Pick Your Own Topic: Lens-Artists Photo Challenge (White)

The Lens-Artist photo challenge theme is “Pick Your Own” – and  after seeing Rusha and Janet both go with a “white” theme- and they both had such diverse takes, I decided to go with white as well.

Ready?

Let’s go outdoors and indoors as we explore some photos with white.

1) White reflection OUTDOORS- from a walk we took in early November – a new part of town that was pleasant for the fresh factor.

2) White reflection INDOORS – sometimes it is just nice to pause and observe

3) White lights hanging OUTDOORS

4) White lights hanging INDOORS

5) These white shell napkin rings were harvested from the OUTDOORS to now be used INDOORS. (I bought these seashell napkin rings for my son’s fiancé’ —-  she liked them a lot —- and there were a dozen of them in the pack, which is a nice package size —- better than the standard four, six, or eight)

Quick Update:

Artist Andrew Seal has been doing a series of leaf drawings on a “white” background (bringing the outdoors in) and the series is almost done – go HERE to see a snippet of Andrew drawing new leaves to some Bach music

  1. Well done Yvette – loved the seashell napkin rings especially – 12 in a pack is a special treat knowing how often they’re lost or broken LOL. Also loved the lights – really focused on the first set because I couldn’t figure out if they were flowers, or a curtain or what else they might be! Finally, great that you pointed to Andrew’s work. I’ve been following him forever, he’s incredibly talented and has an amazing background.

  2. The photos you’ve selected are marvelous! My favorite has to be the light patterns on the blinds — an occurrence right at hand yet so very special. Thanks for mentioning me — it was just accidental that I picked white. Maybe other colors will come to the front in future posts!

  3. You sure have a nice variety of white – reflections, translucents and if you’ve ever tried to buy white paint and match it to an existing paint job in the house, well good luck, because there are so many shades of white out there!

    1. you re so right about the paint colors – although nowadays it seems they have the tech to match colors – you can use a photo or a piece of paint and they have digital tools to get a close match – we have been amazed
but wow – you are so right that not all whites are the same with paints – some have a blue undertone, some cream, some yellow, etc

      1. That’s for sure – we had saved touch-up paint from when we had the house painted. It had dried up when I went to do some touch up (vacuum with its black cord nudging up against the door frame) … got the samples and three times and still did not get it right … I have left it and did not know about matching digitally – I will try again as I figured I’d just have to paint everything and was dreading it as the registers have to be done, windowsills, etc. – big job for when I’m retired.

        1. Well keep me posted if it works for you – we have had great success with digital matching – twice that I can recall for sure – and happy start of December !

        2. I will do that Yvette – it will be when I have more time. I am always scrambling to get anything done it seems. Yes, happy start to December for you too. We had an icy snow mixture but I’m glad we didn’t get the 4-8 inches predicted as it was very heavy to lift.

  4. I like you picked up some patterns in the pictures of these post except the landscape one. I do like good patterns in pictures. I think they are captivating – abstract and just let you mind enjoy it.
