Sometimes we need…. (Lens-Artist Photo Challenge #202)

Hello Readers

The Lens Artist Challenge this week gives us options.

I went with the minimalism and simplicity theme
****

1) Sometimes we just need a simple cup of tea….

2) Sometimes we need to get outside to look up…

3) Sometimes we might need to bring a little outdoors inside…

4) Sometimes we need to pause and find beauty in the not-so-obvious places…

***
5) Sometimes we just need to stand tall and let our light shine bright …

Sometimes all we need is a hug

  1. The simple things are the most important. Last night I went out and looked at an amazing red and golden sky with a bright waxing cresent moon and a smattering of stars. It was a beautiful sight. I’m so pleased I went out and looked up. I’ve never seen the sky look just like this before.

    1. Oh Norah – even without seeing it with you – your description gives us a samplin’ of what you experienced.

      Sounds breathtaking.

And reminds me of a comic I once shared – I’ll see if I can find it – a couple is looking at a sunset and the wife is in awe and the spouse says “too much purple”
      – oh my goodness

    1. Thanks a lot Trent – I originally had a blue theme with some quotes – and then it didn’t feel right – cheers to your weekly smiles too and all the small joys those posts bring
      😊☀️

    1. Thanks so much Anne
This post surprised me in how delightful it unfolded – I originally had a blue theme planned and super glad I changed my mind
      – be over to visit soon

    1. Hi Shelley
I have no idea about the number 3
      But here is my story
A few years ago – my son was on a gap
Year from college – he bought a set of the Rae Dunn mugs – they are everywhere now but when they first came out they were trendy and fun – with the large capacity and not-so
-straight cup formation – part of the charm
Well he had a set of four with the numbers 1., 2., 3., and 4.
We had the set that said “peace” – so a 20 oz mug and a 2 ox matching one for espresso (or a shot of mag chloride flakes and vitamin C powder- ha)
We had the his and her mugs too
But now only have two Rae Dunn mugs left – (gave away some to a friend last October because she had one and said she loved them) and the reason I used it that day was because it is the perfect size for peppermint tea!
      ☕️
We buy the Walmart brand box of 40 tea bags and one bag steeped in that mug is perfect! There other teas are not that great but the mint one rocks

Thanks for asking – it was fun to share

        1. Shelley – omg – yes – and I was shocked – recently I was reading a Suzanne Somers book (she is not perfect) but I like her outlook and doctor interviews !
((Also, her book in the 1990s was the first time I heard about gut health))

anyhow – the more recent SS book mentioned tea and how some is treated with aluminum –
          And chemicals !

So Newman’s Own organic black tea is my choice right now
          ☕️

even tho I only know a little about this –
I want to know more ….🤔
And think we are far too trusting of products – esp those that come from other countries (and some countries that could use that vulnerability in a sinister way )

          And the cheMicals
Used are often about saving money – ugh – and like using deadly canola oil to save money –
Tea is likely sprayed with crap
          To save money
          Sigh

  2. You always rise to the occasion for these prompts Yvette – how do you keep your random photos straightened out to dip into your archives to retrieve them. For “topics” to organize yes, but randomly, it takes great organization on your part.

    1. Hi Linda – thanks for the nice comment !
And regarding photo organizing – well my approach has changed a few times!
For the last couple of years I have been “batching” photos and this means I will sit down and put about 100 photos into a folder. I have topics in mind – like Monday flowers – Thursday doors –
And art! Always a bit of art!

🌺🌺I also add random ones that I like because of the mood!😊☀️

Then – that folder is what I pick from for the next month or so (depends)
But sometimes I will go out and take fresh photos if I have time and if the batching has no options.
Then the fresh photos are used or mixed with batches ones.
      Does that make sense?
That approach is such a time saver and I don’t mind it limiting me. Sometimes only having that folder to pick from keeps things simpler.
Maybe later I will have a different approach – thanks for asking
And how do you do it?
ESP for the wordless posts – do you have them planned out weeks in advance?

      1. You’re welcome Yvette. Your photo organization is similar to mind, but you have such a vast selection I wondered how you did it. I have some street photography taken last year that I’m merging with some taken this year … that will be a topic of “signs” and one of “off kilter items” and they are separate as fillers for the leaner months when there is not as much to photograph landscape wise. They are evergreen shots.

As for preplanning, you will laugh at this. I may not be so organized with the rest of my life, but right now, I have enough photos to take me through the first of August. I actually made myself a grid at Memorial Day when I separated the latest batch of photos, so I knew where I stood. I don’t want to run out of pictures taken while walking and will pare down my Monday posts a little and use some as one topic for that week’s Wordless Wednesday post. That will keep the Monday post from being overly long (all of them are already notoriously long) and a good segue for the companion WW post.

I am having so much fun with this blog because I really put the photography on the back shelf for so many years until blogging. I enjoyed it but really had no reason to take a lot of photos – who was going to see them but me? I use Facebook and Twitter mostly as a means to view the news and nature places I go to, not to post photos and I’m on Instagram, but don’t post anything.

        1. Thanks for sharing that!
And regarding your long weekly post – I wouldn’t worry about Cutting it short unless you want to – but keep in mind that readers can skim posts if needed –
also because it is not a daily long post that makes a difference.

        2. It’s organized like that so I can keep it flowing along without missing a post – I’ve passed the two-year mark for Wordless Wednesday posts. Every week since March 2020 and hope to keep that trend going a long time.

That’s true – I know I am wordy, but when I return from a long trek, I generally write a quick draft of what I saw to pair up with pictures since it may be weeks until I publish the post. I am going to try to stay more current that I was the last few years if possible.
