Hello readers, this week’s doors are linking up with #WQW11 for GREEN and #SundayStills for JADE.
All doors from Richmond, Virginia

“The human tongue is like wasabi: it’s very powerful, and should be used sparingly.” ~John Green, author and motivational speaker (here)
“But the real question is not “what colors make green?” It is, “what type of green will you make by mixing a yellow and a blue?”
You see, as painters, we do not have an absolute yellow or blue. We have many different variations of blues and yellows…” ~Dan Scott, artist (here)

“I look out the window sometimes to seek the color of the shadows and the different greens in the trees, but when I get ready to paint I just close my eyes and imagine a scene.” ~Grandma Moses, Painter
“Green is the colour of spring, of leaves on the trees and grass in the rain. So it’s no surprise, given the ubiquity of the colour green in the world of nature, that poets down the ages have written about this most evocative of colours. Here are ten of the very best poems about the colour green.”
Go to the Interesting Literature blog (here)to read the poems about green

“They’ll sell you thousands of greens. Veronese green and emerald green and cadmium green and any sort of green you like; but that particular green? Never.” Pablo Picasso, artist

“You do matter.
You have a place in this world.
You have purpose.
Use your talents and gifts for the glory of God.
Don’t be discouraged.
Always be humble and kind.
You make a difference.
Don’t be afraid to try new things.
You have a beautiful smile.
Someone needs your smile today. Do it more often.”
Renee Greene, author (here)

I like the idea that green is the color of Spring. So true, yet I’d never thought of that before. Happy St. Pat’s Day. 🍀

Hope your st Patrick’s day was enjoyable and cheers to spring greens and all the colors to come ☀️😊

Great photos and I particularly enjoyed the quotes. Although we’re heading into Autumn down under, after months and months of rain, it’s lush and green here. The grass is going to go into shock when our typically much drier conditions return.
Happy St Patrick’s Day btw.
Best wishes,
Rowena

Hi Rowena – thanks for your comment and I heard about your rain (and saw some down under flood photos – yikes!) but I imagine how vivid the greens are as well…
Happy st Patrick’s day to you too

Hi Dan – it was cool that st Patrick’s day was in the same day that my Thursday doors had a green theme !

Your photos spoke to me in this post, but what great quotes for accompaniments! I’m especially drawn to the Picasso one, but all — photos and quotes — are just marvelous!

That is just so affirming – woo hoo

A lovely collection of jade green doors, Yvette! Green really runs the gamut in so many endless shades. It seems many public buildings go for the cooler jade tones perhaps to calm the public? I giggled over your wasabi quote–so perfect! I like how many residential homes have contrasting doors for a pop of color. The jade door looks great!

I love your combination of #SundayStills, #WQW and #ThursdayDoors. Jade works very well in the doors/buildings you have chosen. Nicely done!

Thank you so much! I prepped this post on Sunday and almost forgot what I added – hahaha – I don’t schedule posts often but I am trying to do it more and more

I love your jades! The roof on the building is my favorite. I love the different house painting jobs. Our house in CA was green as was my Prius named Priss. We repainted it so it would be fresh for the new owners and the first thing they did was to paint the entire house white with black trim. LOL I would call the woman’s purse turquoise – another favorite color of mine. Thanks for linking to WQW!

Wow A thanks for reading enough to catch the purse in that photo ! I agree it is close turquoise 😉
And wow – to have them paint the house shut with black trim shows they wanted really neutral (I guess) and fun name for a Prius m!
Priss is so much better than the old “Betsy” haha

She was as reliable as Betsy. She died at 217,000 miles.

Oh wow…. that is some good Mileage – my step daughter had a Prius for a few years and really liked it. Not sure if she named it…..

They were like VW Bugs in the 60s for a while. Everyone had one! At least in CA.

It was fun trying to find the jade before reading your description. The purse one was tricky! Great images and I love that Renee G. quote you shared – wonderful!

Thanks for joining me with the hints of jade! And I had to smile with how easy it was to find two authors with the last name green (Greene) and Renee is actually a blogger I have followed a while but the John Green dude was brand new to me!

This quote is especially true: “The human tongue is like wasabi: it’s very powerful, and should be used sparingly.” ~John Green. The Bible would certainly agree. 🙂

Hi Janet – yes! Especially the book of James has a lot to say about the tongue – esp. this:
“Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires (James 3:4). The same way the rudder drives the ship, the tongue drives the body.”

It’s marvellous what you see when you pay attention to a particular thing. I will be noticing green doors now!

So true – when we pause to pay attention there can be so many things to see. And I know grabbing photos for challenges has helped me see some details or things I would have missed. Of course I still miss so much ☘️- which i guess is life
Hope your having a nice day

Nice doors. Doors are magic object. They’re the point of passage between outside and inside. Each one a vortex… 😉

Hi Linda! I like that grandma Moses quote too!
And this post was my first preplanned one in a long while 💛
I know you prep and plan posts and I am going to try and do that for a couple of weeks and see how it goes – I have a tentative plan right now so we shall see.
The only problem (well not really a problem) but sometimes I forget all of what was in the post – hahaha

Yes, I used to do a daily quote when still at the law firm and I used quotes by Grandma Moses sometimes – always liked her. A few years ago, when we weren’t busy at work, at one time I was three weeks ahead on posts – that was great. Now I usually do them the weekend before I post them and I get that happening, especially if you have a lot of pictures!

Hi Renee! I picked you for the quote because of your last name! Haha – and I intentionally went to your blog looking for a quote and it didn’t take me too long to find the one that was a great way to end the post!
And green is a nice color to have a as a fav – so many variations and many shades of green are soothing

So many shades of green. It’s my favourite colour. Reading through your post, I was reminded of another quote about our Irish green.
‘Blue and green should never be seen, except on an Irish cailín.’
Cailín is the Irish word for girl.
