Thursday Doors – Sturdy and Strong (2-3-2022)

Hello readers, this week’s Thursday Doors features the sturdy and strong feel.

***

Doors from DC
Doors from – cannot remember – lol – someplace east coast
With three funerals to attend last month, you know I had to share at least one photo from a funeral parlor.

***

also, I had some funeral flowers that became a desktop screen saver for a short while, linking to Clare’s challenge.

This is the third different image I have shared this entrance, “The Virginia” , and this one stood out because of the yellow glow from the inside. Strong building and updated sturdy doors that are lies energy efficient.
The vibe of this sturdy shed door/gate was a little eerie – yet the shadow looks like two doors talking nose to nose – or is it just me who sees that?

***

Closing quote, I could have added a quote on strong and sturdy, but thanks to joyroses for this nice one  🙂

    1. thanks sue, these losses are not too hard on me – but I feel for those who really are impacted more – for example my neighbor is now a widow after being with her man for 54 years – ouch

        1. yes, and he also went fast – healthy, active and then not feeling well in august and then diagnosed with leukemia in November and passed in early January – he was 76 -and was truly a wonderful person and made this world better by being in it!
thanks for the visit, Sue – and let us all live each day for what we have for tomorrow is not promised.

    1. Hi Robbie, and I know there are social manners and good reasons for why we only hit the highlights with the world – we need discernment and it is not always a fake or showy thing – it is just that if we shared the heavy, messy, etc – it would not be appropriate – nor fitting.
so I am not against the Facebook or IG highlight reels – but I do think they can mislead some folks and then some people incorrectly assess things – hmmm ya know?

  1. I love that quote at the end. You have some wonderful doors. I like the multi-panel one, but I really like the photo of the glass door with the interesting light behind it. Thanks for joining Thursday Doors .

  2. What a great post with the strongest doors. I too see the shadows of the doors as if they are whispering to each other. I love the quote you shared as well. 💞

  3. I too love that quote and stopped looking at other peoples ‘highlight reel’ a long time ago. I think my own ‘behind the scenes’ life is terrific. Sorry about the need to attend three funerals, but those flowers make a lovely desktop image and I can only imagine how looking at them has made you feel. (Brighter I hope.) Thank you for sharing with me and joining in on the SYD fun.

    1. Hi Clare, I actually made four flower arrangements this year – all of them were for my funeral #2
I was so proud of my floral skills ( I did it to add some living beauty to the service but I also did four for the price of one florist made bouquet – and I was able to do it and it started on accident because I had vases – anyhow, yes – the flowers brought so much cheer.

I do think that too many flowers us truly a waste of money and have been to two funerals where there were more than 100 huge bouquets – on eagles – shelves, stands – etc and it is overkill

and cheers to the behind the scenes beauty – I feel that too – not a perfect life, but joy and contentment and grateful

      1. You are so clever, and I love making things myself, so I know about the cost savings and the joy these handmade items bring.

        1. There are times to make a phonecall and order the times (and support local florists) and other times when we get the chance to explore and Clare, my artist side got tapped and that felt so good 🙂

  4. The door from the funeral home looks a little bit like a casket. I don’t know if that’s intentional, but that’s the vibe I take from it.

  5. They were nice doors Yvette and I like the golden glow from behind the big door too – it looks inviting despite the big security door. I really like the quote at the end. You hear this advice all the time as to social media, for the people who concern themselves that they lack as many Facebook friends as others, or perhaps aren’t having as good of a time as their peers (sadly, for teens/young adults, often resulting in suicide).

  6. Linda / you are so right about how serious this topic can get / and can sometimes add the constant message of being “less than” and not measuring up….

  7. Such fun photos. Yes, I see the nose to nose doors in the shadow too.
Great quote at the end! I’m so sorry you had several funerals to attend in one month!
