Hello Readers,
The theme for #Sunday Stills is #Elements
The first thing I thought of was Toby Mac’s Albumn “the Elements” – and the them song is here:
—
I overplayed that Toby Mac album a few years ago. And somehow this joke unfolded to where we put the word elephants in for elements. Someone took their arm and started swinging it like an elephant trunk. so once in a while if that song comes on – we do the elephant truck and say “elephants”instead of elements.
—
Here are some of the song lyrics:
I lace the boots up, it’s straight to the door
‘Cause this, is worth fighting for
I get my head right, the heart’s gotta follow
Whisper a prayer like there ain’t no tomorrow
Take a breath, and I exhale slow
I wasn’t made for this kind of cold
This ain’t the kind of place that you wanna know
These are the elements, I’m telling you bro
This world, is up in my grill
This world, is shooting to kill
This world always gotta be stealing my heart
This world always tryin’ to rip my family apart (apart, apart, apart)I’ll fight the elements (elements, elements, elements)
I’ll fight the elements (elements, elements, elements)
I got spirit, I got faith
I might bend but I won’t break
I’ll fight the elements (elements, elements, elements)
****
But my favorite line from the song is “if I go down – I’m a gonna go down swinging.” and that is for #WQW, which is communication this week – because songs sure can be powerful ways to deliver messages (and that is why I am careful with the kind of music I immerse with)- and blogging gives us a chance to communicate what works for us, eh?
And I’ma gonna go down swinging,
if I go down
I’ma gonna go down swinging, if I go down
I’ma gonna go down swinging, if I go down
Let’s goElements, the elem-elements
Elements, the elem-elements

Okay – so now the images for this post –

Fire

AIR
Closing with this LG phone that was subjected to the elements. I found it in the street and gently placed it on the curb just in case someone came back looking for it. Not sue hey could retrieve much but you never know.

Wishing you a great day.

I’d never heard that song, Yvette! I could see how elephants could be substituted, LOL! Great quote choice for WQW, too. Your pics are great for showing the power of each element. Love the sunbeam shining down through the building! Poor cell phone, hopefully, it was found and or least recycled.

Hi Terri -thanks
I hope the cell phone was found by the owner and perhaps they did not have to worry about where it went –

Love the sunlight photo. Not a rap fan but tried to listen just to add elephant when I could. I think that phone has seen better days

Hi BB – I don’t like much rap myself – but some of Toby Mac’s songs – and a handful from “Haystak” –

I’d never heard the song either. That was super powerful. I love it. WOW! I love how you think outside the box with the sad cell phone. Thanks so much for linking to WQW this week. That’s a great communication post. 🙂

Hi Marsha – you do need to check out The Elements album and the song “scars” and “everything” – because I think there was a special anointing on Toby Mac when he wrote this album – he said one song was for his son (who later died of an OD) but I think the whole album might have been infused by this father’s passion and a. mature walk with God – just my opinion- and before this album – I was not really a Top Mac fan – my students used to sing his songs and it just wasn’t my music –

It reminded me of a movie I saw called Into the Wild about a man who was self-driven to spend time alone in the Alaskan wilderness. He had so much help along the way and made so many friends. It was based on the true story of Christopher McCandless. Fabulous movie.

Probably easier to find the elephants than the elements!

That little phone was in a bad shape. But my IPhone spent 2 hours in a pond and rain between the car and the sidewalk. Rice did it…
Hope all is well? Happy new year of the tiger Yvette.

Hi Diane
I wonder if someone drove off with it on their car roof?

I’m a Toby Mac fan, so love the song! And I like the boxing photo right under. Perfect! And no matter how you look at it (life, health, winter chill, relationships, work…) we all have elements we battle.

I haven’t heard of that song either, Yvette. Love the images and the elements included.

I love that you found a song for this challenge. Great pictures to show the elements and I love the way you caught that shaft of sunlight.

Thanks so much- that shaft of sunlight was an accident – the only reason I was taking images of this church (in Lackawanna NY) was because it is a very special Basilica that I grew up near – and I never had photos – so I finally toured the place and grabbed some images – the sunlight beaming through the air was a bonus 🙂

That phone looks very battered, probably not owkring any more, still someone has a card in it. Hopefully it gets back to the owner.

Song was new to me, too … but I like the way you used it to spin into the elements. The round photo of air was my favorite. Fire video is an interesting touch. Well done!

I feel that way somedays like the line in Toby Mac’s song: “I wasn’t made for this kind of cold..”. I remember that it makes Spring more special. Loved the images in your post but I have to tell you I played that fire you posted and I did not warm up – ha! 🙂

hahahah – sorry the fire didn’t add any warmth = so no stores for us today 🙂
and Tienery, good line – and spring does feel so much better after the cold – well said

That sunshine ray was very powerful Yvette and I like the video clip of the fire, the crackle and then the constant flame. That was a great reflection of the metal bird onto the water of the birdbath. Oh, wishful thinking that this photo was what I see if looked outside instead of a snowy vista. I saw a smartphone in a huge pile of leaves I was raking up – I did the same thing and laid it onto a curb. My neighbor’s tree lost 2/3rds of its leaves in one fell swoop, so if the person went back to retrace their steps, they would never have found it.

The “Elephants” made me chuckle. I hadn’t heard that song before. I’ve seen some youtube videos where they swap out common words people mishear and they are hilarious. Great post. KL ❤
