Last year, we spent Christmas with family in Destin, Florida.
I took some photos from the Air Force Armament Museum (here). The outside aircraft had some holiday decor.
The Armament Museum has planes out front and a museum to explore. The aircraft includes an AC-130, B-17, B-25, B-52, P-51, A-10, F-15, F-16, F-100, F-101, and other aircraft from the WWII era to the present. Inside the museum there are several hundred pieces of armament and admission is free.
Quote of the day:
“I have been feeling very clearheaded lately and what I want to write about today is the sea. It contains so many colors. Silver at dawn, green at noon, dark blue in the evening. Sometimes it looks almost red. Or it will turn the color of old coins. Right now the shadows of clouds are dragging across it, and patches of sunlight are touching down everywhere. White strings of gulls drag over it like beads.”

Yvette, I’m laughing at the festive sign and the size of these aircrafts up close is always awe-inspiring. How lovely that you could visit family in Florida last year, will you be there again this time? Oh, I love this Anthony Doerr book and and beautiful quote! Happy Christmas to you and your family and all the best for the New Year! 🎄 ❤️

Thanks for showcasing these aircraft with your great photos. My father was a pilot in WWII and retired from the Air Force after 30 years. I love the quote and the photo from the air.

Now I know how Santa really gets around on Christmas Eve, Yvette! Fun post and who doesn’t love all things aircraft? Fabulous quote and perspective. Combining photo challenges is not only an art but also a time-saver, LOL! Got your link in before 7am PST and thanks for your contribution. A Merry Christmas to you and yours, my friend!

The Santa sign is hilarious. What a cool looking plane that first one is! A free museum–wow! Stuff from WWII? Incredible. I love historic stuff. I may have to try to visit that place some day.

It is a small museum but unique and could be part of a bigger trip to the “remand coast” which is truly A Florida gem!

Hi Yvette!
I can’t believe Christmas is almost here and I’m not exactly ready but almost. Love your post and I Love Destin, Florida! My daughter lived there while being stationed at Eglin AFB. I believe she took us to that same museum some years ago. I think in 2013 or 2014. I visited her often while she lived there and Love the gulf coast!
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! ❤️🎄☃️💚

Hi Di.
So cool
That you had a chance to visit that museum and to explore Destin. The white sand and green water (and nice people) make it quite special.
And same here – cannot believe that Christmas is so close – yikes

Yes, you’re right – Santa needs some high-power means to jet around the world. The reindeer can only do local deliveries but shhhh – don’t tell anyone that. My all-news radio station always gives the NORAD Santa sightings on Christmas Eve, four or five times an hour – the NORAD Santa Tracker is fun as they estimate where Santa is all of Christmas Eve day/night. 🙂

That does sound fun to have a tracker – I will have to check it out.
We aways told our children the truth abut Santa and his role in Christmas – but
it did not mean we did not have Santa fun – 🙂

This is done really cute Yvette – just Google Norad Santa Tracker 2021 and you’ll see it. I’ll put the link separately in case it goes to SPAM. My radio station gives reports all day long – cute for the kids. I don’t remember when I learned the truth about Santa.

I got the link – and I like the movie that shows how Santa’s sleigh gets powered when folks beehive and when there is Christmas spirit -:)

I’ve not gone on the site in years and they’ve really ramped up the fun … it would be a fun thing to do if you have kids who still believe.

Here’s the link Yvette … nothing happening until December 24th and kids can phone in and ask where Santa is as well.

Yvette, I’ve been to this museum, and it’s a dandy. I can’t honestly say that I know a great deal about aircraft, but anytime I’m close to a museum of flight, I have to check it out. I always come away thinking how good it is that all these wonderful old planes end up in museums instead of junked somewhere. All the best for a happy and healthy 2022. ~James

Hi James (and hi to the wife) – I agree with you about how awesome it is to have the artifacts in museums rather than having them “junked somewhere”
also, in this world of “META” and digital connections – I think it is important to remember the physical – and real life – and a great big airplane does that.
wishing you both a happy new year and much gallivanting in 2022.
