#ThursdayDoors & Sunday Stills Decor (10-28-2021)

Hello readers, this week’s Thursday Doors post is linking up with Sunday Stills #Decor theme (and a little late – but connecting with WQWWC #44, autumn theme).

The first photo has some nice double doors, a touch of decor with the small pumpkins and then the left tree has the golden glow and autumn vibe:

Quote: “And the sun took a step back, the leaves lulled themselves to sleep, and autumn was awakened.”
             – Raquel Franco

This next door – some double white doors – had a chair out front – the down view of the chair shows the small autumn leaves – nature’s fall decor for us to enjoy (and a thoughtful young man had just placed this chair outside rather than trashing it)

These next doors show us some more thoughtful homeowners (on left) – where we have a doggie water bowl left out – and then to the right is a “creepy entrance way” with autumn leaves and nice shadows.

This next image –  I took a while back – just for Dan because I know he enjoys Corona – and I can’t recall if I shared it or not – so just in case – here it is for dan 🙂

Sometimes the clothes we wear can be a type of decor:

This next collage shows the door to a health food store in town and the window (lower left) is from the new Publix Grocery Store in the Carytown area. They just built an enormous store there and the outside brick (decor?) has the old-style feel to fit in with the neighborhood.

Final bits of decor – found just outside the doors – with autumn’s essence galore.

  1. Love the doors Yvette… I’m redoing doors right now Sufi g the remodel… and I so love the barn door look but settling on function rather than beauty..
Love your quotes and yes those pants on that person are definitely decorative. Maybe the corona bottle is his?! Hahah 💕

  2. The whole collection says Autumn or Fall to me, with the pumpkins and all the turning leaves! I love all the quotes too!! Super fun post! 🤩

  3. Your quotes are perfect, Yvette, the first one and the last where the leaves get to fly–sublime! Great shots of Autumn decor using nature and other means to celebrate the season! Some really cool doors in your neighborhood, too. So glad to see you at Sunday Stills this week!

  4. Quite a stately house in that first shot, Yvette. Don’t forget to link to Dan’s post because if you already have, I missed it just now. I also like your first quote. The chair outside reminded me of something I read just recently in the NextDoor app. We have bulk trash pickup once a month and so on the weekend prior, people drive around to see what they can find. Someone said that the trash was out and now they were watching the vultures come by to see what there was. I was happy to read that all the comments I saw said that they put good things out separately or early just so people could take them rather than them having to go in the trash. I thought the initial comment was really weird. When the girls were little, I found some like-new Little Tikes items that were set out for the garbage and LT things are expensive (but well made.) We eventually passed them on to neighbors with children. Just how things should work, as far as I’m concerned.

    1. Hi – I agree with you that things should work this way! And well made and gently used can be a blessing to someone else!
And when we lived in Las Gator CA back in 2002 – it was an expensive area in northern cal and we lived in a rental we called the soldier house – anyhow – we were there for two large pickup garbage days and Janet / folks came with rented uhauls or pick up trucks to collect stuff – and we’re proud to do it!
Oh and yes / I added the link to dan’s but this was a scheduled post so had to wait til tonight
But thanks for reminding me just in case

    1. Hi BB
      Thanks for the comment
And that photo of the three walking – I believe it is two females and a male – and there is a shadow on the legs of the giro I the middle with the our heels / the shadow is making it look weird – but we think there was a high school homecoming in that area on Saturday night because they looked like tens dressed for a homecoming and they were walking in a group to a restaurant 👠👞👡🥿

  5. This is a nice collection of doors, Yvette. The chair is interesting. People around here have taken to putting stuff out near the curb with a sign that says “free” – some is useful and might be repurposed, but a lot of it is just trash. Thanks for the mention and the Corona 🙂

I really like the photo of the door taken from under the stairs.

    1. Hi Dan!
Glad you liked the corona bottle – I was not sure if I had shared it and it was in a folder
And it rained a lot the day after I took this photo so I hope the chair was not ruined –
Also, is so hard to decipher what is trash vs what is a treasure
But some things really need to go to the land fill
Back in 2001 (wow / 20 years ago now) I found and added for a $25 scuba diving wet suit – drove to new Smyrna beach to see it – and it was like from the 70s?! I was disgusted and the lady had a fancy boat but really? What was she thinking trying to get money for something that really needed to go to the landfill – just my opinion – haha

    1. Thanks Robbie – and the pants I found almost on the same day – make me admire folks who just go for it with a signature look! I feel so plainly dressed at times – but it is what I like

  6. Doors, bricks, Autumn and quotes – you’ve woven all of these categories in so nicely Yvette. I like that brick entrance for the Publix store and how they built it to mesh with the area. I liked all of the quotes, but this one is my favorite as it is exactly how the leaves are when they are not grabbed from their branches by the ravages of wind:

“Autumn leaves don’t fall, they fly. They take their time and wander on this their only chance to soar.”- Delia Owens

I do like to see the leaves softly falling to the ground as I walk along. We had an all-day rain so today and a good part of tomorrow – the leaves will be dewy and wet and if they’re colorful, will be very photogenic.

  7. I thought “creepy entrance way” would be my favourite… until you started with the clothes photos 😀 Three black blazers and a pair of blue heels – so alive, so … hopeful, there’s a feel-good sensation about that photo. It’s like it says, we create the decor, we don’t get lost in it.
Also, a wonderful closing quote. Nice post, Yvette! ❤

    1. Thanks so very much Ana!
I like how you worded it “we charge the decor and we don’t get lost in it”
And your comment did make me see some of the swagger and action in that photo – it was a quick take of about five shots and I liked it for the trio and the verticals – but now I see more – thanks
