No Shoes for Electron Infuse & Rubik’s Cube Sneakers (Lens Artists Photo Challenge August 16- 2021)

Hello Readers – Joining with the Lens-Artists group this week here. The theme is shoes and feet and I am starting with street shots.

The first two photos are of brands that have staying power- Crocs and Nike. These brands are not going away.

Birght yellow crocs make a statement
Those Nike sneakers sure do match her Rubik’s Cube purse.

That last photo – with the Rubik’s cube purse, first reminded me of Snowden, and then made me wonder if the lady’s sneaker model was a “Rubik’s Cube” edition.

Here is what I found on a quick search. A handful of brands offer a “Rubik’s Cube” model. There are also socks, boots, bags, etc. I was never into the Rubik’s Cube but it was fun to see this in fashion – and some of the sneakers even had a Piet Mondrian vibe.

Next we have the single item – or lost shoe. Perhaps they also fit the color scheme of the Rubik’s cube (or not)

And have you seen flip flops made from recycled yoga mats?

The pair I had (in 2019 from Ontario) were not that comfortable, but at first I liked the idea of the recycled material.

These next sandals, called Earth Runners here, actually have a small piece of copper embedded in the bottom, which is supposed to help with “grounding” – I have many family members who wear this sandal, but I have yet to get a pair – partly because I like a bit of cushion and I do not love the look.

I might try these copper-lined sandals because the chance to get some grounding in while out and about could be one more small thing for wellness.

In the meantime, I try to put my feet on the ground daily and if you are healing up or just want to be pro-active about dong small things for health  – More info on earthling here.

When you touch the ground with your bare feet or body, the electrons flow into your body, which then grounds you – and anyone spending hours on a tech device needs to get out and touch the earth without shoes. You could wear socks, go barefoot, place a towel down, or use sandals with the copper — but lose the shoes to get an electron infuse – it might even help your muse.

Hope your week is going well.

  1. Fascinating post with an excellent rundown on footwear. I didn’t realize that style was Rubik’s Cube and thought it to be Mondrian and so was pleased to see that you also mention Mondrian. I am a proponent of no shoes having spent the last 9 months recovering from a broken heel – 7 of those wearing a heavy orthopedic walking boot. Happy feet rule. I learned a lot from.your post today! Best, Babsje

    1. Oh my goodness. a broken heel? That is not an injury I have heard much about and it sounds like a long nine months. Hope your recovery is 100% soon

  2. I never thought I’d say this ….. But I just want those old lady SAS shoes. The ones that tie and are black. Don’t think they make them anymore.
Even SAS is turning out ridiculous looking shoes. 😦

    1. Hi ! That is too bad they do not make them anymore and hope everyone always finds shoes they love because life is too short to have shoes we hate – right

    1. Hi Lisa – that featured photo with the flip flops all snuggled in the sand was actually from an older post and I snuck it in when I was trying to pick a featured image – so I am grateful for the comment from you – glad I chose it
And bright colored crocs seem everywhere in my neck of the woods

  3. Varied and interesting – as usual! I just love the “Rubik’s Cube” models. I did not know people still knes about it? I guesss it was popular many years ago – never had one, I know my son had one though. And those sandals made out of yoga mats? Good recycling!

    1. It seems the Rubik’s cube has some popularity still and thanks for a fun theme – I have only visited a few others so far but from what I have seen so far – the shoes and feet have brought out some FUN ideas
      Thanks for hosting

    1. Hi T – those sandals were also a great price so I got some for my yoga teachers – but two of my favorite flip flop brands are Clark’s and Skechers

  4. LOL for your closing sentence Yvette! Never knew there was clothing with the Rubik’s cube as a model. Must admit you wouldn’t catch me wearing it but I did have a short bout of playing with the darned thing many, many years back. After being told by a foot doctor that barefoot is the worst thing for your feet I don’t do it often but it sure does feel good when I do!!

    1. Hi Tina that is so interesting about the bare foot message of it not being good
I have heard others claim it is best … and I am all for barefoot sometimes but because we live in a chemical world k it is unwise to advocate all time bare feet – there is antifreeze on the ground – debris like glass and even some parasites –
And today I just got some much needed feet on the earth time and hoping my muse will follow hahah

    1. Hi author JT- good for you for going barefoot a lot – it is really hard for me to go barefoot –
Prefer slippers, flip flops and shoes

    1. Hi Anne! There are some fun colored crocs these days – and I just realized that the croc guy also fits the rubik cube color theme – 😊

  5. The sand really reminds me of how I’d picture the moon’s surface! You sure came up with a lot of shoes for this prompt and I had to smile at the two “lost shoes” remembering your prior post about footwear similarly laying solo on the beach. The Rubik’s Cube purse certainly was different and yes, it did match the shoes. 🙂

    1. Thanks Linda – for the comment and for remembering my other post! When I first thought of this prompt I was going to mimic the other post with maybe musing over story ideas about the lost shoe (flip flop or sneaker) but the two street shots were on a folder and led into a new idea – which is another reason I like blogging – helps tap the oil well for some idea flow – and that has to be good for us!
      😊

      1. Your welcome Yvette – the photo triggered that post in my mind right away. I organized my photos, dividing them into manageable posts and it may sound funny, but I had to create a grid for myself as I wanted to keep “like posts” in the same week – like a long post on Monday and an accompanying Wordless Wednesday post. I admire you keep all the ideas and photos so that you can retrieve them in an instant.

        1. Hi Linda – the grid sounds like a good idea
And I don’t have all of mine easy to access in an instant – not at all – but I do have a folder with about 100 photos and the croc guy and Rubik’s Cube purse gal happened to be in the folder –
So actually I think I make it work with what is there at the time – and I am willing to let some ideas (and photos) go –
For example – I have some unused street shots from last month’s tree squares and I might not ever post them –
And getting back to yours – the planning seems to pay off – and nice balance with the long and then wordless

        2. I didn’t know how you stored your photos Yvette – I thought maybe you had a backup device to store the photos. I don’t use that, or the cloud, but I’ve separated photos by upcoming posts and e-mail them to myself sorted out, so have copies on my old laptop, a Gmail account and my Comcast account. I have a lot of photos right now and hopefully I keep them straight using the grid. I likely will not return to three posts a week, except for special occasions or holidays. I always used to post the day I walked, but it has been awhile since I did that. That was before I began using so many photos in my posts.

        3. Yes, this works better. Next week I’ll have three as September 2nd is my 10-year walking anniversary, so I will have an extra post on Thursday, just a short one though to celebrate.

    1. Hi Clare – I bet your daughters would like them and perhaps your sneaker preference would feature the moon? I can imagine a soft black sneaker with some silver for moon phases with some value showing it – or not
Thanks for the comment have a good day!

  6. Great post! My daughter has mastered the Rubik’s cube. She had a friend teach her the moves and it’s all about memorizing the twists and turns to complete the puzzle! Kinda cool when she does it. I didn’t know they had a fashion thing going with the cube!! Too funny!!
And thanks for sharing, I learned much for copper and grounding. I liked all your photos, a fun post Yvette!! Have a wonderful week!! ❤️😍

    1. Thanks for reading Diana, and I think you are so right about the memorizing patterns for the cube solving – I vaguely remember learning how to do one fill side and it was all about knowing which rows to turn ((and did you hear about the trophy generation moves the stickers to line them up – hahaha)
      Have a nice day

  7. I’ve never had a pair of Crocs but I have had Nikes. I didn’t know about the Electron Infusion, but I like the idea. I’ve been told to hug or lean against a tree to get grounded. Maybe I could do that barefoot and get twice the grounding.

    1. Hi
I have heard the tree hugging or touching could also help and I am curious to learn more and more about this awesome topic
And it does sound like you could get double the electrons or twice as much natural earth force that way

  8. Great post Yvette and love the yellow crocks.. they’re always comfy, i’ve not seen the recycled Yoga sandals but I’m not surprise. Wish I could have sent you all of the foot prints in the tubs I sat in yesterday as I’m in search of the perfect tub. while your feet are on the ground.. I’m hoping to kick mine up later.. Have a great Sunday my friend!💖💖

  9. Great photos! The yellow crocs definitely make a fashion statement and is very cheerful. Hey, if you’re going to wear Crocs, might as well wear the brightest color shoes they make.
This is the first time I’ve seen Rubik’s cube’s print outside of a cube. Very good examples!
