Two for Tuesday: Richmond, VA Robert E. Lee Monument (and Pavlov comics)

Author Update: Here are some of the latest images on the Robert E. Lee Monument – it has not been taken down, but a fence is now up (end of January 2021) and courts are reviewing its fate. Some photos – credit Daniel Sangjib

It is two for Tuesday and last year we spent the night at a family member’s house and they set up their (very comfy foam mattress) guest bed with these two little goodie bags

Two Closing comics – a little off topic but Twos-day can be anything – eh?

Hope you have a nice day

    1. Thanks for the visit Derrick – and I did not get a good photo of the graffiti and while I know many folks want to respect that part of history and have the Lee monument moved to an appropriate place – seeing the graffiti in person is quite moving – what it represents and what it symbolizes.

  1. I think I need a little more information about the monument and the pillow gifts. I’ve heard something similar about Pavlov before. Funny.

    1. Hi Norah – I know this post was a little hodge podge – ha so thanks for reading –
and I just added update photos – because last week they fenced off the monument and courts are reviewing whether or not it will be removed

and the pillow gifts can vary.
We got the idea from mother-n-law who used to put chocolate on the pillows when we visited her (and I know that is not a new idea) but I used to love that because settling in to the guest room was helped with that treat
So a while ago I would put out a few things for guests (sometimes in a brown paper bag with their name – or just on the pillow – and it would be a protein bar (keto) and maybe some lotion. One timeIput out some b-complex sublingual drops)
Anyhow, our little pillow gifts had snacks, and a foam pack, and “pins” that said COVID phrases and stuff like that

      1. I wonder what decision will be made about the monument.
Love the sound of your pillow treats. I have occasionally done something similar, but not always. 🙂

    1. Hi Frank = is you hybrid wonderful? Not all foam beds are awesome – some are too firm (IMHO) but the one n their guest rooms perfect 🙂

    1. Hi Dawn = last I heard = they put up a fence (Jan 28, 2021) and they are waiting to hear what the court decides – and the graffiti is still there – I just do not think anymore will be added because of the fence.

  2. It’s a delicate proposition with statutes. They are a part of our shared history, for better and sometimes worse. I think moving a statue to a less prominent place is probably the best idea.

    1. hi sorryless
i completely agree with you – move it to a place that preserves the history and find a way to fix this incongruence with pedestals for what they represented

  3. I have been meaning to take a look at that monument as I’ve been hearing so much about it. Seeing the graffiti there, just like here, makes me sigh … so much of it. I see it at the Park where I walk daily and there is gang graffiti that they don’t even bother to whitewash on the roller rink anymore, because the next day it is back again. I have to mention this … for some reason, I can’t view some of the photos or slideshows you’ve been using in your posts. I know it is me and maybe since I’m still on Windows 7 (no, the computer guy has still not put us on the Windows 10 equipment that is sitting in his office and the Windows 10 laptop on my stove … it is not convenient to use it there). I don’t know why some of these items are totally “blacked out” – in this case it is the two closing comics. I am having issues with WordPress. Last Monday, I published my post at 5:00 a.m. as I usually do – it shows up in Reader when I check in the morning, mid-day it disappears. This has happened several times and WP does not know why.
