Starting off with my top photo from 2020. Here are two unedited photos from about 8 different takes. The first one has that second bird lower right, and the second one has a bit more sky so you can feel the tree ending a bit more.
Question: Wondering where those two photos were taken?
Answer: At Anne’s Beach in Islamorada Florida Keys (more info here): Directions: Mile Marker 73, Overseas Highway, Lower Matecumbe Key, Oceanside
Question: Who is the Anne Eaton that has this cool park named after her?
Answer: Anne Eaton was a local environmentalist, who passed away in 1992.
Anne was a schoolteacher (and we know that school teacher’s often have bigger hearts than the average person, right Norah and Pete? just sayin’)
Anyhow, Anne married Cyrus Stephen Eaton (957) but sadly, at 24 years of age, a polio infection left her wheelchair-bound. After many years of fun together, Cyrus died and Anne heard about the Florida Keys being frost-free and “found her heaven on earth.”
So those of you with a bucket list, you might want to add this small “beach park” to your list of places to visit. I do not think you will be disappointed.

Question: Do I have one photo that sums up 2020?
Answer: Yup, sure do. This bent manhole cover
This bent cover reminds of what we were all called to do in 2020 – adapt!
Yes, adapt (and a lot of us had to go with Plan C many times). We are also strong and have purpose ( but will not go there with that today).
adapt or die, baby
Speaking of adapting, the hubs had a milestone birthday last year – and of course – “because of COVID” we made Plan C to celebrate. He really could care less about birthday celebrations – but I think some milestones birthdays need to be celebrated.
Below are two photos I liked because they had little things that were extra special from the week-long occasion (remember we were making the most of alternative plans–) – well on this day we had three different things to do and do you see the anchor lower left? That is special to us because years ago (almost 20 now) when we moved to Virginia (and had our asses kicked a few times from coast to coast moves) well we knew we were home here – back on the east coast. We wanted to buy something artsy that would serve as a reminder of the gift of settling and dropping roots (thank you, God). We ended up buying a small, heavy “anchor candle holder” and still have it (in the attic now, but it comes out at Xmas). Anyhow, other little things from the photos are special – like how that dress ended up being the right choice to pack and bring. I struggled with which one to bring (not all dresses fit into a small, tightly packed suitcase). I chose that little gem on the fly – and it literally unfolded perfectly out of the suitcase and was right for the temperature and for the three different things we did on that particular day. The last highlight was that I also met a few “new friends” that day because of that dress. Around four different ladies commented on it – and it was just win, win, win….. (and remember – this was plan C mode… ha)
Well here is the rock version of the song – the video is a little silly, but the sound quality is good (right Clive?)— and if any of you have a listen, let me know what you think.
It happens to be Thursday – and I absolutely want to start the year off right by joining in with Dan @nofacilities, who is now generously hosting Thursday Doors

Okay everyone, that is all. Thanks for viewing and thanks for following along with Priorhouse blog. 🙂
Also, thanks to all of the hosts that give their time to make blog connections come alive.
I did listen. A bit of a chore at 6 AM. 😉 What I thought as I listened is that all of us experience a different rhythm in our lives. And while we may not like other rhythms we should at least try to understand them.
If I listened again ….. who knows what I might thing??
Oh lady sighs – I really like how you said that – you are so right and it shows a lot about your openness and ability to at least explore!
Now this rock version is of a song that was kind of techno like from 1994- there are slower remakes that you actually might find to your liking (or not)
🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
The two of you look great, Yvette, and the dress fits you perfectly. But if that was plan C, I’m really curious what the plan A dress was 😀 .
Just listened to the song – I do like the rock version, it actually fits my mood today. 😉
Hi Ana – glad it fit your mood the day you listened – and thank for the comment on the dress – the trip was plan C but did not really have the outfits picked out when it was plan A and then plan B – we have a local juggler (Jonathan a Austin) and then my spouse has a friend that looks like an older Elvis and sings some of his songs – and so plan a was to have a bash with a band and then sneak in Jonathan Austin and Nick doing Elvis -and
Plan B was a small house party
And that was Plan C – sunshine state reprieve
Plans A and B sound good, but so does plan C. I’m glad you didn’t give up on celebrating and managed to do something special for the event, even if it wasn’t exactly the initial plan. 🙂
Hello to both of you! Thank you, Yvette, for your highly engaging New Year Report. I have enjoyed your photography and music video here. HaHaHa! You and Chris are highly adaptable in coming up with Plan C “because of COVID”. I concur with Ana Linden about your dress, and notice that the colour of your long skirt matches that of Chris’ trousers.
Needless to say, 2020 had been a difficult year, and one could say that we live in interesting times indeed, but often for the wrong reasons. What a day it was to unfold with sedition, insurrection and coup d’état on the 6th!
2020, the Year of the Rat, has brought us not the plague (black death) but Covid-19. And 2020 also brought out the worst of divisive politics and demagogic incitement. Could it really get even worse in 2021?
Whilst some of us may take some comfort in our living somewhere else, there is the danger that oppressive politics may spread elsewhere or be mirrored by other corrupt politicians outside their origins.
Democracy is not a given. It can be quite fragile, can fail rather badly, and often is approximately as good and benevolent (or bad and malevolent) as the members who practise, control and/or legislate it. We all need to do our parts in contributing to the smooth and equitable functioning of a civil country and democratic society. I have done mine in highlighting many of the most fundamental causes through my writings, and I hope that you will find more answers and solutions to these thorny issues in my latest and recently expanded post entitled “Misquotation Pandemic and Disinformation Polemic: Mind Pollution by Viral Falsity” and published at https://soundeagle.wordpress.com/2020/12/19/misquotation-pandemic-and-disinformation-polemic-mind-pollution-by-viral-falsity/
I would be delighted if you could kindly submit your comment to my said article, as I am very keen and curious to know what you think or make of it regarding the increasingly pressing issues that many of us are facing, worsen all the more by mental pitfalls (or even mental health), social media, digital globalization, populism, Trumpism, illiberal democracy, and other behavioural and sociopolitical factors.
By the way, I would like to wish you and Chris as well as Ana a very happy New Year. May you find 2021 very much to your liking and highly conducive to your writing, reading, thinking and blogging!
i will be over to visit soon and thanks for this thoughtful comment – sorry for the late reply!
you made some profound points sound eagle and appreciate your caring – sometimes folks overlook that it takes effort to speak up and advocate a view and then do it with a bit of finesse and not meanness
😉
Lovely photos of you two, and it’s always good to put a face to a name!
Yup, sound quality was good, and I preferred that to the original. I liked the slightly harder feel to it, not so much pop. I didn’t know the Monkees had reformed though…
Hahahaha – that was so funny – you – the monkees hang out with Elvis and they walk the beach leaving boot prints (kidding)
Thanks for chiming in and I still love the Rhythm of the night version you introduced me to – so smooth – ((and laugh that called Norah Jones “Snora” ha! 🎶☀️
Hi Yvette, What a beautiful post, as always. I loved the damaged manhole. Plan C – Such an imaginative symbol of 2020. I loved the picture of both of you – great dress. I’m just finishing my Sunday Stills Post. I complicate things trying to include too much. But I’ve spent all night working on it, and I’m not going to revise it too much. People can skim. LOL. Thanks for hosting #WQWWC next Wednesday. I can’t wait to read it. TTYS 🙂
I love your take – that is how I feel with posts that start to get heavy or too long – folks can skin and go if they don’t want to read (( and I almost felt that with this one and was going to leave out the doors – but it was Thursday and the doors were from the back of the Versace museum and it fit the mood because spent a week staying about 250 feet from that museum))
Thanks for the generous comment and Ttys
That is it exactly. When you want to participate in all the challenges, but you don’t have time to write 4-5 different posts. The important thing is to make a stab at it. I followed Terri’s lead on this one, and hers outlined each month. Where it gets hard for me is not just telling what happened, but why it was impactful. Terri did a masterful job with her long post. 🙂
I will check out Terri’s post…. and as a general rule I am trying not to combine challenges –
Only if they fit and just trying to not do it – talk to you soon
Agree with you a 100% that milestone birthdays need to be celebrated:) As of which letter sums up my plan (in 2020), I don’t t even know. My year went by differently then for some others. I don’t have the view that it was a difficult year. Maybe crazy … I rolled from one new beginning into another, but I like change. It was easier on us than on our adult kids…..
Yes, Plan C has a lot going for it in current times!
