The Priorhouse take has photos from Virginia Beach, Virginia.
How is this for starting the challenge? – A nice letter “A”A is for Alone – Is he dining alone in the pandemic? – Or is he waiting for someone else with those two waters?
Active couple -the lady has her holiday red and green going on – and how is this for a deal – dinner for two for under 40$???

Art Sculptures from the beach
Artist Paul DiPasquale created this King Neptune sculpture in bronze for Virginia Beach, VA in 2005. It stands 34-feet tall (to the trident) and weighs 12.5 tons. King Neptune is surrounded by an octopus, two dolphins, a lobster, twelve fish, and is holding a sea turtle. Some say that this sculpture connects to Virginia BeachI went to visit with my son’s fiancé’s mother. We had such chemistry. We talked about life and living (we were pandemic mindful too). We had lunch at an English tea room (tea was good food, was so-so…), then we went to a health store (got some Zum soap), we then walked the beach and browsed in a beach shop. We have been trying to make this little tea room meeting happen since January. So A is also for “About time” haha
How do you like the ART from this ANGLE? This is the turtle that King Neptune is holding – reminds me that how we look at something impacts the magnitude of how it feels – and looking up we feel the impressiveness of this sculpture. Maybe this post could be called Art Appreciation? Anyhow, remember this if you feel overwhelmed – or underwhelmed – “how we look at something impacts the magnitude of how it feels” – so you might need to stand back or stand closer – but get active and get moving to explore how perspective and the filters we have need to be examined. 🙂

A great choice for the challenge. Your sculptures really captured my attention, Yvette. And I’m glad you could spend time with your soon-to-be new relative. Congratulations on your son’s engagement, too.
Patti – thanks so much – glad the sculpture connected – and if you all are still on east coast – maybe you could add a visit down to VB if the time allows for it – this is a nice time to visit as it is not super crowded
🙂
Some interesting art, Yvette. I love the octopus and King Neptune. I don’t want anything dropped on my derrière , thank you, no matter what it’s called! 😉 And congratulations to your son and his fiancé.
Thanks Janet – and laughing with your comment about the “a**” in the phrase on the over mitt. And I am sure you know it is an expression that really does not mean rear end – it means “you” (urban slang) and like get your ass in the car”
And I just thigh the “a” fit – hahah
I do know what it means, but it certainly refers to your posterior, else there would be a different word. I really don’t care for “ass” unless referring to an animal and even there I prefer “donkey.”
Got it! And that was why I added the caption I did!
This store had an entire set of kitchen items with “shock” phrases like that – I think the charm was that they were 50s and 60s motif with urban phrases
Well Yvette, the sculpture definitely gets one’s attention, doesn’t it?! Yikes, that’s big – must admit it wouldn’t be my favorite in front of a beautiful ocean scene but that’s just me 😊. Good job with the As, loved your art image. Glad to hear you hit it off with the future in-laws!
hi Tina,
I can see what you mean about the sculpture not blocking any ocean view, but I think it fits in this location because it is touristy and then my have a place for events – in fact there are Christmas lights lined up all along the boardwalk and it is quite nice. So because it is an event destination – I think the sculpture fits well – and it is bookmarked with the Navy sculptures at the south end with lots in between
Thanks for the Comment
I didn’t know what to expect with the title and prompt and letter A swimming around in here. Love the slide show and agree with janet, no dropping on my ass thanks 😀 Amazing sculpture especially with a couple of hotties posing but back to back, very pandemic 😀 😀
I hope you wear your mask properly not like the bloke whose nose isn’t covered in your photo. I wonder if Trump said that Covid can’t get up your nose like he did to many 🙂
Hi bb
I wear my mask properly for the sake of others – and think it can have some preventative value – but other times it seems that viruses are going to be air born and will travel
There is a doctor named Zach Bush who I respect because of his extensive research about viruses and he writes about the travel of viruses related to pollution and what it!
And as far as politicians go – rarely do I listen to them for health advice. And on that note – most doctors and health care workers in the United States do not really know about gut health – the deadly toxins from sugar – and are too quick to prescribe drugs with 26 pages of side effects!
So large! Something so large and towering can inspire fear. Did you see the movie AI? There is that scene where the lion figure in the front of New York Public Library is getting flooded. Yikes, still makes me nervous.
The sculptures look great. I see there is a sticker under the turtle sculpture. I could not make out what the sticker is. It would be interesting to know 🙂
Hi – I will check again later – but I did zoom in real quick when I was posting and I think it is a sticker of a camera letting us know there is video surveillance – my guess – but I will let you know later
and hope you are having a nice month of december so far, YC
The letter “A” was a great way to start it. Then the man sitting there alone. I looked at the picture for a sec trying to figure out what he had to do with the letter A. Then I scrolled. Too funny. I liked your art show slide show. Very clever way to display it. Very fun post, Yvette.

That is just fine Yvette 🙂 I guess wearing a mask all the time then you wouldn’t be able to put things into your gut to compromise health “D

Great post, pics, and captions! The
King Neptune statue is humongous; to stand by it in person may be startling.

It really is large in person and it fits this tourist area on the beach – nice for events and all that

thank you so very much – and maybe a few streches to connect to “A” but Patti did suggest conceptual connections – or something like that – hahha

Yes that “A” was perfect to kick off the letter “A” challenge. You had this “A” theme down to an art (pardon the pun).
