Right now – oolong tea is my favorite tea for evening tea. And this brand is my favorite for the bagged tea. Here is a little info about oolong tea: “Oolong teas are semi-oxidized teas. They are sometimes called “semi-fermented teas” After the tea leaves are picked, they are rolled and allowed to oxidize. Oxidation produces floral notes that characterize many oolongs” (read more here)
I am serving up some cashews at today’s tea party.
Yes, there are other options for snacking – so do check out some other tea parties hosted by other bloggers if you need some alternative choices – but the reason I chose cashews is because of how well they go with oolong tea. I discovered this on a road trip.
Cashews and oolong tea? Yup. They go well together. On a road trip, I had my travel mug with oolong tea brewing. It sat for a while (maybe too long). Somehow, I ended up snacking on cashews and drank the tea. The flavors of the tea exploded. Similarly, the buttery notes in the cashews unfolded and it reminded me about how many food and drinks complement each other. Also, we tried frozen cashews and that is another fun way to enjoy them.
Okay – if you prefer coffee – would you like to try this “mocha java” ?
Easy Mocha Java: Brewed organic coffee, unsweetened almond milk, cocoa powder – mix it in the bullet (tepid – not too hot) to get a froth. Sprinkle cinnamon on top (or cocoa powder). Add stevia and butter if it is one of “those” days – heat a little more and then enjoy.
I saw this tweety bird (just plopped down by the sneakers) while I was out making a quick stop for a new light-weight jacket. (and by the way – the jacket I bought is now my “Eddie Van Halen” jacket because I was told the news of his passing while buying it). The smile comes in because my mother and I sometimes share photos of tweety bird.
Why do we share photos of tweet? It goes back to when I was a young girl. I had a couple birthdays with cheesecake and a tweety bird candle or decor. Then, in my early 20s, they combined the two again – tweety bird candle and cheesecake. I never “loved” Tweety – but it started because one year we were family camping and my birthday fell during that week. The only candle they had at the small store was a Tweety candle and so the tradition started (and then stopped, thankfully.. ha) – but sometimes my mom and I will see a Tweety and remember back to those days. I took this photo to send to her and it was a smile of the week.
Sounds good – and when you get a chance to try oolong tea – here is what I noticed – the water you use makes a difference – sounds obvious but amazes me how different the same brand tastes at different times – also – needs to brew a bit (I guess like most teas – but oolong seems better with that good five minute + sitting) and then – I add unsweetened vanilla almond milk and have found a taste I like with that- so I guess my suggestion is to experiment – because I did as I did not enjoy oolong at first – but now it is a great afternoon or evening tea ☕️😊
Thanks for the tea and cashews! I didn’t know how well they go together. And I loved the tweety bird! How can you not SMILE!! Reminds me of the cartoons I use to watch as a kid. That’s a fun little tradition with your Mom. Makes me smile, missing my Mom but always love to hear about others! Have a great rest of the week! ❤️
Love the Tweety bird pic and the history behind it, Yvette! Such sweet memories!
Love to try the oolong tea!! But shall pass on the cashews to my fellow bloggers as I’m allergic to them. 😁
Ok – pass on the cashews – and I know a few folks who cannot have them! Also – I know on certain “candida rid” diets the cashew is not allowed
Thanks for the visit and be over to your tea post soon
Hugs
Sad about Eddie VH, but cool you picked up a jacket in his honor. I enjoyed listening to the music and drinking virtual tea while eating cashews (it’s morning, so I am drinking coffee in real life). It is funny how little traditions start, and funny that you continue the tradition by sharing Tweety photos. Do you, uhm, every share them on Twitter, i,e, tweet Tweety?
Hahah – nice play on words and I just saw an auto correct typo where I said Tweet and not tweety – so thanks for graciously overlooking that – and no – Twitter is not my thing – I tried it there and sometimes wish I found a groove there – but never unfolded 😉
And hope your morning coffee was good
Morning has been super busy, and the afternoon as well, but good. As to Twitter, there are few things on Earth that I hate as much as Twitter… (the app itself, that isn’t even talking the political divisiveness it is causing.)
Hi – my husband would agree with you about the cashew 😉 and that is why we had such a huge bag that day! I love so many nuts and lately – pistachios are back near the top of my list 😊☕️
Thank you for (virtual) tea party you have today (in this post). I totally enjoy the music. Today I would go with the oolong tea with cashew nuts (I have not tried this combination yet but I will remember to try them with tea when I have a chance).
Fab shots, Yvette, and a great idea to have a virtual tea party. I love cashew nuts, but I’d never have thought of putting them together with oolong tea! I’ll have to try it now. 🙂
Hi alli – the pairing was new for me too – and I almost put a medieval instrumental song in this post because a few cool songs came up in my auto play – and I liked them more than this song – but left the post – anyhow – thanks for the visit and ttys
I have never had oolong tea … I buy green tea and struggle to get it down despite knowing of its wonderful properties. I am a coffee drinker and this frothy delight does interest me. I get the Hills Brothers cappuccino instant hot drinks, which are delightful on a cold Winter day but I don’t drink them too much – they are high in sugar content. I liked Tweety Bird, even before I had canaries. 🙂
Thanks for the hugs and sending some your way –
And because it is you – I will add a quote:
“ How many slams in an old screen door? Depends how loud you shut it. How many slices in a bread? Depends how thin you cut it. How much good inside a day? Depends how good you live ’em. How much love inside a friend? Depends how much you give ’em.”
– Shel Silverstein
Oh I do like that Yvette! A modern proverb for a modern world. Often people in Europe don’t know what a screen door is! But the rest of the proverb tells it all. It is often about attitude and interpretation. I’ll re-post this.
What a sweet post! Cashews are great and so is the tea and how can one not smile at Tweety! What a cute story to go with it. ❤

I’ve never had Oolong tea! I feel so . . .sheltered?
And cashews . . I’ll take them with anything. Topping a fresh salad is a favorite method.

I don’t know as much as you do about it – but Twitter definitely has a vibe all it’s own that does not appeal to everyone
