Hello Readers, This week at Carrot Ranch, Charli Mills invited flash fiction writers to write about “mice”
***
Title: Mouse over Mice
Word Count: 99
Are you talking to Romano?
Tell him his agent called. His photo sold for $10,000!
He wants to know if it is was the Golf Swing photo?
No.
Was it the Boxing Ring Power Punch shot?
Nope.
He wants to know if it was the blurry Runner Catching the Baton or the smooth Wind Glider?
Um, no.
He said he’s stumped. Those are the only photos he had for sale.
Tell him his agent added more to his store. He sold Mouse over Mice.
Silence over the phone.
Then Romano laughingly said, “People today are loco. They bought that one?? Loco!”
…

Author Note:
I am reading an old book about selling photos. For my fiction, I imagined that someone had a lot of wonderful photos for sale but then sold one of their “junk” photos instead of the “good” ones. This idea came about because sometimes what “sells” (with literature, photos, videos, etc.) is sometimes the junk stuff – while the quality or beautiful often gets overlooked. I also wanted to have some fun with a computer mouse and some mice.

LOL! Tis a rodent season approaching. The fiction here reminds me of “Mouses” by Thom Jones. For the carrot ranch, all of my good guesses were null. Nice share Prior.

Hello Prior. If you should you will enjoy! I really love early American literature. I hope that your week is a rewarding one. Will talk later with you about your Pink Floyd…

Oh thanks Derrick – I was going for humor with a splash of reality about what “sells” sometimes

Ha, ha! So true — the unexpected can be the thing that appeals to audience and sells. Clever take on the prompt.

Thanks Charli – and I was also thinking of a band who made music they liked and their producer had them make a “hit” song and it was not even “their style” –
Have a good week

Mouse over mice is clever as is your story … now more mice are wireless but in the beginning your mouse always had a “tail” … I guess that dates me a little.

Hi Linda – good point – the track pads have taken over the traditional mouse 😉
And hope you week is off to a ice start

Yes, they have … I have never gotten accustomed to the track pads and use the mouse more and a year or so ago I got a vertical mouse when I had the frozen shoulder issue. I took it out of the box a few times and put it back saying “maybe later” for this odd-looking mouse. I got a walk in this morning and right now it is raining, the first time in two weeks – we have had a very good run of weather … hot, then cold, then hot again, but rain-free.
