The Lens-Artist Photo Challenge this week is Inspiration
***
This week, after chatting with Bushboy via his Feather’s post, I was inspired to bring geranium blooms indoors.

***
Splashes of indoor beauty can add visual rhythm to life.

Corona’s (1993) “The Rhythm of the Night” song is not to be confused with Debarge’s (1985) song with the same name – because the Corona band added “The” to their song title – kind of like Ohio State anchors with their “The.”
This song comes to mind with the geranium inspiration because this early 1990s song has been remixed and played a lot this summer. The “Corona” band “name” fits right in with the COVID pandemic. However, it is also a fun jam that invites us to dance, workout, or just tap a toe – while we all endure the pandemic.
“The Rhythm of the Night” song will always remind me of Summer 2020. (#PowerofMusic, right Clive?)
“The Rhythm of the Night” song (1993-1994), by Italian band Corona, ALSO has a few inspiring lyrics: to go with this techno beat
“You could put some joy upon my face
Oh, sunshine in an empty place.”“Won’t you teach me how to love and learn.”
“The rhythm of the night
This is the rhythm of my life
My life, oh yeah
The rhythm of my life.”

During this pandemic – and anytime – we all need to find ways to add some rhythm to our lives.
It could be enjoying flowers – or writing – joining in with blog challenges, or starting a new hobby.
Just get moving – get busy finding what you need to add more rhythm to your life.
Your vitality depends on it!

The small things that inspire us can bring much joy.

Thank you for the thought. I’m honoured. I’m also just a little concerned for your reputation if anyone queries what the rhythm of the night means for us 😂

Hahah – that was funny – and yes – thank goodness there’s an ocean between us! Because you also made a mention in my “easy” post this weekend and my goodness – we don’t want folks wondering – hahahahaha (but so glad t be blog friends, Clive)

Yvette I really enjoyed your take on the challenge this week. A simple pot of flowers truly can inspire us, and certainly positively affect the day’s mood. Lovely choice.

Thanks for the shout out Yvette 🙂 I am sorry couldn’t listen to that son for long, it just didn’t do it for me. Love the geraniums and those flower photos are like wow 🙂

I understand completely about the song – I know some folks cannot stand techno stuff and a local DJ recently talked about techno music and I guess there was a study that she was referring to – it she said it did “nothing” for her!

Hello Alli (and hi to the Hubs from me)
And it reminds me that we cannot plan for this to happen – for example – in March if I intentionally tried to buy flowers that would offer this richness –
Surely I would pay a lot! But this happens on its own – and depends on many factors –
For example – the electric pink called to
Me this year maybe because I had red and yellow and purple a lot and needed this newness – they had “melon” ones but I missed them.
Anyhow – wishing you a wonderful day

Ahhhhh – thanks Amy! And cheesy but my pink geraniums have birth me joy regularly since spring – and it just happens some years and other years maybe little inspiration comes from the flowers – just never know

This is wonderful, Yvette. It’s so true what you wrote: “The small things that inspire us can bring much joy.” Geraniums are special for me, too. They were my grandfather’s favorite flower. The colors are wonderful in your shots!

Hi Patti!
I have noticed that for some reason geraniums are like strawberry rhubarb pie – seems to remind us a lot of grandparents !!

Beautiful geraniums Yvette – I had “Strawberry Sizzle” geraniums every year when I had the garden (with real flowers as opposed to silk, what I have now) – they looked just like that – same color, zonal geraniums and they bloomed like crazy. I used to ride the bus with a woman who overwintered her geraniums in a closet. Sounds a little bizarre but I went to see them one day and they were gorgeous.

Hi Linda – that name is cool! And they had melon colored geraniums that I hope to they next year! And smiling to imagine the geraniums thriving in the closet – I once had a friend who tried growing pot in his closet (80s) and it did not really work -lol (and I am not a smoker or user of anything – but super glad pot is becoming decriminalized!

Yes, I like that name too Yvette. I just Googled and apparently that geranium is still around, part of the Fantasia series. I bought them for the color and the size – I knew they would be huge by 4th of July as they were a good size. Also, $1.00 of each purchase went to Susan J. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research. The woman had red geraniums and she put them in brown paper bags and shut the closet door – totally dark all Winter. She used to catch the same bus as me in the morning and we’d walk up the street together sometimes – I was incredulous and she said “well, they are ugly for a while when I put them in the ground, but they grow really big!” The melon-colored geraniums sound lovely too.
Funny you say about decriminalizing pot – it is legal here in Michigan for a year or so now and just today in Ann Arbor, Michigan (famous for its annual Hash Bash (first Saturday in April) their City Council declared “magic mushrooms” legal due to their health benefits.

Thanks for the news link and for the current event !! I feel so In the know – ha!
And cool about the paper bags.
I had a couple potted red geraniums this
year and one almost died completely – I put it into a smaller pot and in full
Sun and a piece of it just flowered.
It just doesn’t matter because the cold air will be upon us – but it was fun to see that burst of red.

You are welcome Yvette. The cold air is pushing in here too – we’ve had a very warm week and in the 80s this weekend. Sorry to see it go as much as I love Fall.

I was just listening (and dancing) to Corona’s “The Rhythm of the Night” last week in a nostalgia/celebration/need to dance fit 😀 (so the 90s hits playlist it was). I couldn’t remember the name of the band, so I had to pause for a moment when I noticed it…
“The small things that inspire us can bring much joy.” – I couldn’t agree more, especially at a time like this.
Geraniums in the rain – how beautiful! ❤

Thanks for the nice comment and her is to dancing when we want to!

Lovely thoughts and flowers, Yvette. I do think there is something quite lovely about pink and grey, and red and grey. Warm and cool together really compliment one another.

I think you are right about those colors – and I think if I already had those colors in that room it might not have had flower freshness – sometimes “new” is better – thanks and good day to you

Hi Sylvia / I can see why hey are cavities if yours – and did you know that geranium essential oil can be hormone balancing for women? Or so I hear and a few years ago this essential oil was in an blend I loved to use (geranium essential oil
Can be a little strong tho – )
And my potted geraniums did get stunted a little earlier this year – but some plant food was all they needed
