~ THE THEME FOR THIS POST IS PAUSE, LOOK, AND SEE – BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT 2019 WAS TO ME.
1) TRAVEL: THIS YEAR WE SPENT TIME TO STOP AND ENJOY SIDE TRAILS ON OUR TRIPS. USUALLY WE ARE ALL ABOUT GETTING FROM A TO B. BUT THIS YEAR WE WERE ABLE TO “PAUSE, LOOK, AND SEE” – THIS OLD BENCH WAS SOMEWHERE IN NORTH FLORIDA. (LINKED TO PULL UP A SEAT)

2) ARCHITECTURE: WHEN WE HAD TIME TO EXPLORE ATLANTA, GEORGIA – I REALIZED HOW OLD THIS CITY WAS. IN THIS PHOTO, WE HAVE A DOWN VIEW OF THE PARKING GARAGE AT OUR NICE HOTEL. THE TRIP WAS JUST “OKAY” – DID NOT LOVE THE CITY- BUT GLAD WE HAD THE CHANCE TO FINALLY SPEND TIME THERE TO PAUSE, LOOK, AND SEE. 3) NATURE: THIS GERBERA DAISY SURPRISED ME SUMMER 2019. FORGOT DAISYS WERE PLANTED IN THIS PLANTER AND THIS USUALLY “NEEDY” FLOWER DID SO WELL WITH LITTLE CARE. BUT IT WAS OFTEN HIDDEN, BURIED BENEATH THE VINCA AND PANSYS. ONCE IN A WHILE, I WOULD PULL BACK THE TOP FLOWERS TO PAUSE, LOOK, AND SEE ITS BEAUTY. IN A WAY, THIS IS HOW THE 2019 YEAR WAS AROUND HERE. A YEAR THAT WAS GOOD- WITH BEAUTY TO BE FOUND IN DETOURS! …SOMETIMES IT WAS BURIED BUT BEAUTY WAS THERE WITH FRESHNESS AND VIBRANCY. GOD IS GOOD – ALL THE TIME…. ALSO – I WAS NOT VERY NEEDY AND FELT GRATEFUL THAT IT WAS NOT MUCH WORSE (IF THAT MAKES SENSE). 4) CULTURE: WOODSTOCK VISIT. WE WERE ON A RETREAT THIS YEAR AND IT WAS CLOSE TO WOODSTOCK. WE DECIDED (LAST MINUTE) TO GO AND CHECK IT OUT. IN HINDSIGHT, I CANNOT BELIEVE WE ALMOST DID NOT GO TO THIS SPECIAL PLACE. ANYHOW, THE DAY WE VISITED, THEY HAD A MORNING 5K RUN AND AN AFTERNOON WINE TASTING. THE PEOPLE COMING AND GOING FROM BOTH EVENTS WERE CHATTY FOLKS (LIKE SOME LADIES ASKED US WHY WE WERE WALKING AWAY FROM THE WINE FEST – AND NOT GOING “TO” IT- THEY WERE CUTE). AND IN THIS PHOTO COLLAGE, WE MET A LADY WHO RAN THE 5K AND HAD SHORTS WITH THE 1969 TICKET INFO PRINTED ON THEM. SHE ASKED US TO TAKE HER PHOTO. I THINK I WOULD LOVE TO RUN A 5K NEAR WOODSTOCK (WE COULD PAUSE, LOOK, AND SEE WHERE THERE WAS SOME ICONIC HISTORY). WHAT ABOUT YOU?5) LANDSCAPE SHOT FROM THE MEMORIAL TREE AT WOODSTOCK. PHOTO SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. 6) CREATIVE. THIS MAN GAVE ME AN ON-THE-SPOT INTERVIEW WITH MY PHONE VIDEO RECORDER. HE SHARED ABOUT HOW HE COMES TO WOODSTOCK TO HONOR HIS LATE BROTHER. WE TALKED ABOUT MUSIC, LEGALIZING OF POT, AND THE CONNECTION HIS BROTHER HAD TO THE ICONIC POP CULTURE MUSIC EVENT OF WOODSTOCK. NOT SURE WHAT I WILL END UP DOING WITH ALL OF MY INTERVIEW MATERIAL, BUT HOPEFULLY SOMEDAY I CAN FIND A CREATIVE WAY TO USE IT.
7) FRIENDS. THIS YEAR I HAD THE CHANCE TO COORDINATE A 40TH B-DAY PARTY FOR OUR YOGA TEACHER, JENNIE. THAKS TO KIM AND MIKE FOR THEIR HELP – AND TO THE OTHERS WHO HELPED SET UP AND TEAR DOWN. JENNIE (RIGHT) AND JONATHAN AUSTIN (LEFT). WE LOVE THIS LOCAL ENTERTAINER – AND WHEN WE BOOK HIM FOR A PARTY, WE KNOW ALL IS WELL. ((HE HAS 24 HOUR EMERGENCY JUGGLING & MAGIC SERVICES – WEBSITE IS HERE)) SIDE NOTE WITH THIS PHOTO – THIS ALSO REMINDS ME ABOUT HOW GRATEFUL I AM TO HAVE HEALED WITH MY RIB INJURY FROM THE CAR ACCIDENT IN JUNE. THE DAY WE WERE SETTING UP FOR JENNIE’S PARTY – I WAS SIDELINED ON THE FLOOR FOR HALF AN HOUR (SERIOUSLY ANNOYING) – BECAUSE MY ENTIRE BACK “SEIZED” UP AND I HAD TO LIE FLAT UNTIL EVERYTHING RELAXED. UGH. MY BACK ONLY SEIZED UP THREE TIMES DURING THE HEALING PHASE – GOOD NEWS IS I FEEL 98% BACK TO HEALTHY RIBS.BUT THE HEALING RIBS WERE A HUGE PART OF 2019 (AND AGAIN, IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE).8) CAKE: SPEAKING OF FRIENDS AND PARTIES – WE HAVE A LOCAL STORE THAT SELLS THIS ALL-NATURAL STRAWBERRY CAKE AT A DECENT PRICE. THIS WAS OUR “GO TO” CAKE FOR SIX DIFFERENT EVENTS THIS YEAR. VERY GRATEFUL TO HAVE FOUND IT BECAUSE IF YOU CARE ABOUT PEOPLE – YOU WILL NOT FEED THEM CANOLA OIL AND GLUE-FLOUR ITEMS WITH BAD GRAINS! (I KONOW CAKE MIGHT STILL BE ON THE YELLOW LIST – BUT THIS ONE HAD REAL WHIPPED CREAM, NO BAD OILS, NO PRESERVATIVES, ETC.) THINKING OF JOEY WITH THIS CAKE PHOTO – AND LISA WITH THE TABLECLOTH. 9) THIS IS OUR FRIEND’S DOG IN THE PHOTO. IT REMINDS ME OF THE HUBS’ GROUP OF HEALTH COACHING FRIENDS, FOLKS I HAD THE PLEASURE TO FINALLY MEET THIS YEAR. IT REMINDS ME OF DOGGY LOVE – AND DID YOU KNOW THAT PRIORHOUSE “MIGHT” BE READY TO GET ANOTHER DOG IN 2020. THAT IS A BIG DEAL BECAUSE WE WERE NOT SURE WE EVER WANTED DOG’S AGAIN – BUT IT MIGHT JUST HAPPEN. ((I KNOW TRENT WOULD APPROVE AND LINKING THIS HIS WEEKLY SMILE)).

Love your photos! I was just 19 when Woodstock took place. I remember all of the hoopla. I’m not aware of any of my friends attending. I wasn’t much of a hippy. I was working and staying away from pot and protests!
So sorry about your accident but so glad that you are nearly back to 100%. Praying for your complete recovery!
I can empathize with you about getting another dog. I’ve said that in the past myself when I’ve lost a beloved companion. But I quickly learned that my home was too quiet and things just weren’t the same without an animal. I’m missing my little dogs terribly but we still have a houseful of cats so it will be a while. I’ve learned that one never “replaces” a pet, you just expand the heart by letting in another one. Win-win!

We almost rescued a yellow lab and that was crazy to think about – that we are ready – but they didn’t need us after all – but got the idea going —

But I think you are similar to me in that we know how to find joy in each day even when the “times be hard” – boot to say we passively ignore – but with maturity and fixing our eyes on God and what he is doing and not the situation / well a lifestyle of just pushing on and knowing that “all things work

I love the flower and bench photos, Yvette. It sounds as if you had a difficult year but have kept a good attitude. God is truly good all the time and I pray that He richly blesses you in 2020 in all aspects of your life.

Life and he is so faithful to provide and make the crooked way straight – or to give us peace and contentment while treading the crooked path and bumpy terrain. And … I have come to really know his detours are usually layered with multiple purposes so I bank on that (and maybe that is why tony mac’s Elements album ministered to me so much this year – encouraging stuff that fed the spirit

A great year end post. I’m glad your ribs are mostly healed – I either didn’t know it was that bad or forgot. The Woodstock photos are great – I need to make it up there some time, though I know I missed the 50th anniversary… And, yes, of course I would approve of you getting a dog 😉
Hi T – I think the big 50th celebration Woodstock stuff was in the summer – we were there in Fall and it did not have a 50th vibe – well the gift shop did.
I will share more photos later.
And with the ribs – I did not want to be complaining online so I did not mention it. It was only really tough the first four weeks. Jennie’s party was around 3 weeks after the accident – I was out and about (bed rest for the first 8 days) but if I did too much – it caught up with me. Never experienced a back seize prior to this and hope to never again.

Ever so wonderful Yvette 🙂 I am glad you do what we have been doing ever since K and I started our relationship (actually more of a partnership) See a side road and wonder where it goes, drive down and make discoveries. Rarely drive from A to B in a direct manner unless it is a very long way. Saying that, a lot of driving from A to B in Australia is a long way ha ha ha

and Diane, I was so grateful for this cake this year for various events – and we could change up the toppings – on one of the six times we featured this cake – we had no extra fruit for the top and it was just fine. there is something about real and heavy whipped cream that goes well with berries and light cake (as I am sure you well know)
The strawberry pie was very good and pretty easy to make. I grow my own rhubarb and usually have bags of it in my freezer for the off season. I love baking with it. Thank you!
Hi Dawn – thanks – the year was still good overall – in fact I am surprised at how well it was in some ways – in spite of being completely sidelined with rib injury and two other smaller bumps. I guess this is a natural part of life – we plan… but – well… can only plan so much

I like the girls shorts … just big enough for the facsimile of the ticket and the original stage … all very exciting. So you really wish you had gone now? There will never be another Woodstock – they could just not pull it together this year either … one in a million. Happy New Year Yvette!
Hi Linda – regarding wishing I Had gone… I think I did not make it clear – I was referring to we almost did not go to visit Woodstock while we are in PA this year. we were on a retreat about 25 minutes from there and almost did not squeeze in time to visit the Woodstock area. So what I meant was we almost did not go and cannot believe that we almost did not go – because it so iconic.

I am going to post a little less, though I have plenty of fodder from all the photos I took in December. I just have to write the content to go with the photos. I had hoped to do one this morning as it was supposed to rain, but it didn’t rain so I went out and walked – it was 45 … have to seize the day now before the snow flies. I am very behind in Reader from the afternoon/evening I spent going through pictures and catching up with my e-mail correspondence (which I just did again … poof … before I knew it two hours was gone just like that). Enjoy your blogging break. I followed a photographer who did macro photography and did mindlefullness posts. He posted 2X or 3X a week, always a long insightful post on Sundays using his photography with each post. He’d schedule them weeks, if not months ahead of time. He had a heart attack though a few months ago and wrote that his posts would continue until he ran out and he would not be posting as frequently (he was true to his word too). Several “regulars’ have disappeared off the grid lately Yvette. Have a good weekend as well.

Really enjoyed these photos. My favourite was the Coke chair. I love old stuff and that seems older than vintage.
It must’ve been great to go to Woodstock. I’d love to know more about that and research research it. Such an iconic moment.
Might have to look at doing a best of post for 2019 although much of it has slipped away into oblivion. Might be good to jog the memory a little.

and yes, a Woodstock research project sounds like something fun…
and if you get around to doing a post – well I did not really go through all of my photos – because I am sure I have ones I liked more and could pick different highlights – but in order to get a post – I just did an “off the cuff” top 2019 pics… and that made it win-win – it highlighted some of the memories (even if I left out some of the important ones) and I was able to not spend too much time – because as you well know – it is lose lose if we spend too much time not he wrong endeavors…
That cake DOES look good and knowing it’s not full of crap a cake doesn’t really need makes it even more appealing.
I love what you wrote about Atlanta. I’ve been several times, have done all the sights. The best time was when the kids were 16, 14, 6, and 5, and we did the zoo and the aquarium. The zoo had pandas and a very large petting zoo. We had an amazing time. It was an idyllic visit. The aquarium was also marvelous, and I would go back JUST for that. But, Atlanta as a city is unappealing to me, even when it’s cooler. It’s congested and the traffic is horrid. Indianapolis has twice as many people but we’re maybe spoiled by the space. And the vibe is kinda sad. There could be something I’m always missing on trips to Atlanta, (happy people?) multiple trips in my lifetime, but it always feels sad to me.
Joey – now that you mention it – there was a sad feeling in Atlanta – even when we made shorter stops there.
the one huge takeaway was at breakfast one morning, I met a lady from Toronto and we were kindred. she was visiting her fiancé there in Georgia…

And the back hung was before the party during set up / I was there for a few hours alone waiting for the other setter uppers (ha) to come back – and the entire upper back froze. The Lower was fine – but had to lie down on the floor and did breathing – held my phone high up
And enjoyed that for a while until everything relaxed!

But sounds like you can relate and I have new empathy for anyone with anything back related ….

I like how you showed us your favorite photos from this year and I enjoyed seeing the Woodstock photos you had mentioned to me earlier this year. I like the girls shorts … just big enough for the facsimile of the ticket and the original stage … all very exciting. So you really wish you had gone now? There will never be another Woodstock – they could just not pull it together this year either … one in a million. Happy New Year Yvette!

Hi Linda – regarding wishing I Had gone… I think I did not make it clear – I was referring to we almost did not go to visit Woodstock while we are in PA this year. we were on a retreat about 25 minutes from there and almost did not squeeze in time to visit the Woodstock area. So what I meant was we almost did not go and cannot believe that we almost did not go – because it so iconic.

OK, I thought this was your Woodstock post Yvette. I thought you meant you toyed with the idea of going back in 1969, but I think you would likely have been too young. You don’t have to use those links; I just wanted you to see how we took on the 50th anniversary celebration.

I am going to post a little less, though I have plenty of fodder from all the photos I took in December. I just have to write the content to go with the photos. I had hoped to do one this morning as it was supposed to rain, but it didn’t rain so I went out and walked – it was 45 … have to seize the day now before the snow flies. I am very behind in Reader from the afternoon/evening I spent going through pictures and catching up with my e-mail correspondence (which I just did again … poof … before I knew it two hours was gone just like that). Enjoy your blogging break. I followed a photographer who did macro photography and did mindlefullness posts. He posted 2X or 3X a week, always a long insightful post on Sundays using his photography with each post. He’d schedule them weeks, if not months ahead of time. He had a heart attack though a few months ago and wrote that his posts would continue until he ran out and he would not be posting as frequently (he was true to his word too). Several “regulars’ have disappeared off the grid lately Yvette. Have a good weekend as well.

Really enjoyed these photos. My favourite was the Coke chair. I love old stuff and that seems older than vintage.
It must’ve been great to go to Woodstock. I’d love to know more about that and research research it. Such an iconic moment.
Might have to look at doing a best of post for 2019 although much of it has slipped away into oblivion. Might be good to jog the memory a little.

and yes, a Woodstock research project sounds like something fun…
and if you get around to doing a post – well I did not really go through all of my photos – because I am sure I have ones I liked more and could pick different highlights – but in order to get a post – I just did an “off the cuff” top 2019 pics… and that made it win-win – it highlighted some of the memories (even if I left out some of the important ones) and I was able to not spend too much time – because as you well know – it is lose lose if we spend too much time not he wrong endeavors…

That cake DOES look good and knowing it’s not full of crap a cake doesn’t really need makes it even more appealing.
I love what you wrote about Atlanta. I’ve been several times, have done all the sights. The best time was when the kids were 16, 14, 6, and 5, and we did the zoo and the aquarium. The zoo had pandas and a very large petting zoo. We had an amazing time. It was an idyllic visit. The aquarium was also marvelous, and I would go back JUST for that. But, Atlanta as a city is unappealing to me, even when it’s cooler. It’s congested and the traffic is horrid. Indianapolis has twice as many people but we’re maybe spoiled by the space. And the vibe is kinda sad. There could be something I’m always missing on trips to Atlanta, (happy people?) multiple trips in my lifetime, but it always feels sad to me.

Joey – now that you mention it – there was a sad feeling in Atlanta – even when we made shorter stops there.
the one huge takeaway was at breakfast one morning, I met a lady from Toronto and we were kindred. she was visiting her fiancé there in Georgia…

Woodstock is a name we all know, but few in Sweden have been there. Lovely to see your shots from there! So glad you are mending as well – thank you for a great review of 2019, and best wishes for 2020, Yvette. ♥

I enjoyed your photo adventure! Such interesting and varied choices. The Woodstock one especially caught my eye. How cool! And the interview. Glad you are healed from the awful back spasms at the party. I’ve had those – not fun at all.

And the back hung was before the party during set up / I was there for a few hours alone waiting for the other setter uppers (ha) to come back – and the entire upper back froze. The Lower was fine – but had to lie down on the floor and did breathing – held my phone high up
And enjoyed that for a while until everything relaxed!
Ugh
But sounds like you can relate and I have new empathy for anyone with anything back related ….

Happy 2020, Yvette. I don’t know how I’d begin to choose my favorite photo(s) of all of 2019. Interesting to think about, but overwhelming to do. I might try though…maybe.
