Check it out because she offers some great ideas and shares about her holiday setting up this year.
Donna linked to these two images and loved the humor (thanks Donna)

The OBT post reminded me of the classic (and possibly retired) Priorhouse Christmas tablescape:
We had fun setting up the table with our classic decor. Back in 2016 was the last time we used this set up – (sleigh in the center was made by my son in preschool). I have a feeling that when I set up for the next holiday meal – still a few years out – we will be changing things up. So this is likely a retired look. Pine cone napkin rings, earth-tone plates, classic green and red, etc. All great – but might be time for new phase.
_
Now of course you do NOT have to add decor to anything – but sometimes these little touches enrich the experience. They “up the game” and I think it is worth it – even though it really takes little effort once you find a groove. (Photo above, regifting wine and the plates were from a very low-key Thanksgiving meal). Saw these out and about – I like this look – but not that Christmas-ish.
Just for fun – my MIL had these spoons – saw them in her tea drawer when we visited her last December. And guess what? She has had them – unopened for many years (maybe since the 1990s) – ha Here is our inside holiday decor tree this year -lights – and a little tree – with one ornament (the rest are stored away). This ornament – the cardinal in a snow globe from Pier 1 – just arrived from my favorite cousins down in Florida. Oh it was so sweet to open – and it is a little too heavy for the tree so it will sit nicely on the fireplace, which also has lights. Keeping things simple – but still a little festive.
You have filled us with some merriment with your collection of photos and wit in this post Yvette. Somewhere in this house is a collection of spoons for stirring with stones at the top of them … they were a gift and I’ve not seen them for years and if I locate them I’ll take a photo and send it with the two Christmas squirrel cards. Merry Christmas to you Yvette.
Hi Yvette – I need to take them off the photo card and will send them this afternoon or evening … planning a long walk while the weather cooperates. I had planned to do that this morning and my boss (on vacation) had a problem and he happened to be online and had a back-and-forth so will do later.
I did not take the photos of the card as I promised you – they are on the small camera. In fact I got home so late Yvette, that I put the big camera away to look at those pictures another time … I have to archive off my posts and photos – I am two quarters behind in doing it and I am using a lot of space on this computer I keep only for photos … I put the photos onto a flash drive in case the laptop would have a hiccup … I have to do this before I can load any more photos on here. I did take pics of the two spoons and the two knives with a rock in the top of each handle and the two squirrel cards too. I had a wonderful day – six miles walked and went same place as before with all the birds – so peaceful watching them.
No, I will do it in the next few days – I have to archive off all my 2019 posts and photos to make some room on this computer – I do that quarterly as a general rule, but have not done so since the end of March. It is pouring today and will do so until late Monday, then transition to snow. Ugh. I am hunkering down in the house after my long walk and photo fun yesterday – must get some productive things done in this house … hope your weather is better Yvette. I am done walking for this year likely due to rain/snow … New Year’s Day might be an opportunity for a walk and then it warms up end of the week.
Lisa- I am having issues accessing your blog while logged in – every time I have tried for the last week it has bumped me out… just wanted to let you know and I will keep trying – ttys
Hi YC – it was a few years ago when we had the table setting – and just sharing it this year for anyone who might want ideas for next year (with tips from Denise and the OBT blogger) thanks for the visit and comment
I’m so predictable, I like the white pottery dishes with the gold cutlery.
I don’t do any tablescapes. I have always had cats, who think runners and tablecloths and placemats are for them. So most special dinners have me selecting certain Fiesta plates and certain cloth napkins, maybe some candles, and that’s as scape-y as I get 😛 But I love a beautiful table, of course!
Hi joey – yes – that set does match you – I think
and actually on that day I also saw a vase that looked like one you shared in. post earlier this year – when I have time – I will dig it out and try and share it – to see if it is like yours or not.
anyhow, cats and runners – that is fun.
thanks for taking the time to say hello, WF. and just so you know – I was timing of you this week – and I usually think of you when the term extravert/extrovert comes up. Funny how some people are connected to certain terms.
happy new year
That is funny, bc I am actually (very) introvert while I can pull off sociable. But so interesting, how we sometimes draw to ourselves people we think about.
oh I am sure you might be high introvert – but a long long time ago I recall we chatted about the terms and you were just sharing some nice info – that is why I think of you – not necessarily because you are high extrovert – ha –
thanks for coming back
So many ways to see and share the holiday spirit – thanks for sharing yours. Best holidays wishes to you and yours.
