1) Late afternoon walks are sometimes greeted by the “way-too-early” sunset. The good news is that today, the 21st of December, marks the shortest day of the year (for those of us in Northern Hemisphere). And in a hot yoga class yesterday, S. reminded us that after today we will be heading towards the longest day of the year. We will be on the flip side of the countdown to the next solstice. Nice way to look at it. For those that feel sluggish this week, you might want to consider getting some Vitamin D3, Vitamin B-12, Ascorbic Acid, eat some quality grass-fed meat, and/or check into red-light therapy for overall wellness.  Earlier this year we added four red-light infrared bulbs to our sauna for Red Therapy light or Photobiomodulation (I might blog about it in 2020, but you can get more info here).

2) LOOKING UP: I liked the strong vibe from this angle (even though aren’t most of these under ground now?)

 

3) LOOKING UP I am also reminded why we do NOT travel anymore for Christmas. Too hectic and maybe once in a while we will travel – it is not the obligated “every year travel for Christmas” type of thing. This does not mean it is always easy, because sometimes I would like to be in this state or that sate with family – but we make it work. And have had more peace because of it.

4) LOOKING DOWN – I am sure there are many thoughts to connect with these strong – yet worn – double yellow lines. But they allude me today. 

5) LOOKING DOWN – we laughed when we saw this. Someone had a little fun….

6) Okay, sorry (but also Sorry LESS) for being gross with this used condom photo here. There is a new neighborhood being built and before the lots were set up – some people partied on the newly-paved vacant streets. Now there are cameras and so NO MORE shenanigans – but we saw these things a few times. The hubs was joking around with some nicknames for this street: Rubber road, Condom Circle, Lover’s lane, Provasic Place (Fugitive joke with hat cast one).

7) The ice on the birdbath reminded me how cold it is in December. brrrrr. And I felt grateful for the small things in life – for nature and being able to take walks – grateful for a small garden that has a cute little birdbath. And of course…. I thought of Bushboy (because birdbaths make me think of him and a few other photographers). So I prayed for him and the fires in their country. That reminded me how it is so good for us when we think of others and when we lift each other up. And…. if you are reading this and need a boost – maybe you should try serving others more. Sometimes demandingness sneaks in to pull you down. And to be quite honest, the most unhealthy people I know are always thinking of self and they accumulate and think of meme, me.  It is pretty amazing what saving and reaching out does for human beings. A little outreach can go a long way for enriching YOU. 

8) Wanted to include this photo with my walk post because with so much “delivery” happens these days -and did you know that grocery deliveries are expected to skyrocket in 2020? So yes, we do see delivery vehicles while out on walks. So many of them – from cars to brown trucks, over-sized gray vans to small white ones, etc. Then, coming home one day, this box was waiting for us. Doesn’t the heavy label stand out? That reminded me of how sometimes in life we have situations that are HEAVY – and it could help if we approach it with care and knowledge ahead of time. Like – “This is a heavy box – be careful” could mean “This is a heavy issue – let’s be delicate with it.”  And when my spouse and I would have talks over the years – sometimes we would check in by saying – “Hey – we need to have a talk soon – but not one of those “HOY” ones.” Or we might say, “need to talk and it might be a little HOY.”  Wondering what a “HOY” talk is? For us – it was a term that unfolded meaning “heavy on you” talk. I would say something like, “Sorry to be all heavy on you, but….” and then the song from Heart came in too -you know the tune, Crazy on You, can fit this mantra – “heavy on you….” —– anyhow, sometimes heavy talks are just needed – to discuss delicate or important matters. And it always helped us to preface it ahead of time. In fact, it was a “HOY” talk back in 2002 that helped us make the decision to leave California and move back to the East Coast. 🙂 – Coming back to 2019 – Christmas is only a few days away and if this season feels all “heavy on you” – maybe you can modify it so it is not all heavy. Don’t just endure it – don’t drink your way through it – and don’t just get by with annoyance -get busy and try to  find ways to make it work for you so that it also leads to January Joy.
