Beach Photos (Countdown to 2020 – post 1 of 31)

Hello Readers, 

December 2019 is upon us and I am taking this chance to get to some posts that have been “ideas” or are photos to use up or some “drafts” to get to….

Today, for day 1 of 31, I have ten beach photos. 

 

1) Liking that cowboy hat… and the yellow glow at sunrise (no editing here – that yellow is all natural).

2) Maybe thinking of the beach can warm our bones on these cold December days…
3) White sand that almost looks like snow
4) A leftover whale sand sculpture?
5). Growing up where Lake Erie and Lake Ontario were our beaches – the sea oats near the ocean have extra charm. Something about salty water and the ocean’s buoyancy that adds to the “ocean beach” experience.
6) Signs of our Avian Friends at the beach — with their little track marks. This month I will be promoting my book, called Avian Friends (here on Amazon) and I have a free download in the works for later this month. Stay Tuned.
7) Destin, Florida has teal water. Call it the emerald coast. Gorgeous –
8) The track marks remind me of paths crossing – coming together. I am so glad YOUR PATH has connected mine in the blogosphere. 🙂 Glad to be blog friends – even if you read and never leave a comment or like. The connection here takes on many different forms. 
9) If you look close, you can see a smile from the person on the ATV. Don’t smiles brighten our day – any time of the year? This one is linked to TRENT’S WEEKLY SMILE (here). 
10) Time to go home – people leaving the beach at the end of a beautiful day. And it is also time for the end of this post. 🙂 ((peace out….and cheers to one more month of 2019))

  2. What a lovely idea. I enjoyed all the photos. I’ll look forward to your posts each day. P.S. The light this time of year is just breathtaking, I think. I wrote about that myself in my last post.

  3. I really enjoyed your beach collection, Yvette, especially the shots that have a low perspective with the sand in the foreground. Nice work with shadows and textures. 🙂

    1. thanks for letting me know about the link – I will check it – and also – we do not have it as cold as many places – but we do have a full winter – and I enjoy it – not sure I would ever want to live somewhere without a real winter -:)

  11. You got in just under the wire to be part of last week’s smile 😉 Nice photos. I think the one is a sand sculpture of an octopus – I can see at least a few “arms”.

      I think you get the gold star here – now I see the octopus for sure – I counted five arms.
      but here is the way I saw the whale (just fyi)

  16. Amazing shots, Yvette! I had to laugh when I read the caption for the third image, as when I first saw it I thought it was a picture of a tiled roof with snow on it, but then I read your caption and saw that the ‘snow’ was in fact white sand! What a brilliant illusion! Great stuff. 🙂

    1. Hi – I JUST noticed that it looked like snow the day I Posted these. I originally took it as part of Becky’s “lines” photo theme this fall – but did not get to join her challenge as much as I wanted to – 🙂 and the beach is pretty there – it is where the middle part of the United States likes to visit….

  18. The cowboy hat definitely adds drama to that first shot but I also loved the texture of those sand pictures – wonderful. I feel warmer already!

    1. Hi. I like how you said it added drama – agree – and JT, I thought of this photo when the original Marlboro man died in November of this year (and he was not a smoker but sure did a lot for their branding):
      so maybe I can dedicate that photo to him:

      “Robert Norris, the cowboy (with a 63,000-acre ranch) became famous for acting as the original “Marlboro Man,” died (November 2019) at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was 90.”

      and a quote from him that I love:

      “There’s no gray area between right and wrong,” Norris said. “You do the right thing even if it costs you. You do the right thing.”

  20. It’s been ages since I’ve been to a beach and walked in sand. This sand is very white and I do like how you’ve captured the textures of the sand itself, as well as objects in the sand – in fact, to me it looks like like a lunar surface, except for the dregs of the sea creature! The whole post is inspiring and makes me wish it was Summer and not headed toward Winter.

And I thought of you this morning Yvette when I saw those big towers at the Park – one is obliterated by a huge spruce tree in front of it, so you do not get the same perspective and the other is close to the residential neighborhood, so it does not stand alone like yours did … this park is in the middle of our City. Yes, lunar surface for sure, having refreshed in my mind what the lunar surface looks like since this was the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing and I saw so many photos commemorating it.

  23. I love the beach, lakefront or riverfront and have been fortunate to visit many. My step daughter lives a block from San Diego’s Pacific beach and we will spend Christmas eve there. Your photos are divine, Yvette!

  33. Hi Yvette, A great way to share your photos and “ideas.” I have been making some Christmas gifts and now my reward is to catch up on my reading.

    A huge Wow on your first photo. I love everything about it! The contrast, the silhouette, the way it draws my eyes into the photo. I always feel better when I am by the ocean. Your photos helped me slow down and take a deep breath. Thank you for sharing.🙂

    1. thanks for taking the time to visit and comment – and I feel the same way – I reward myself with blogging when I get the “other stuff” done first – ha!
      and plan to pull back from blogging a bit in January –

  34. Oh my gosh those are amazing photos! We spent a week in Destin FL a couple of years ago. It was SOOOO beautiful! But it was in October, a bit cooler, and very quiet. But we had a wonderful time!

    1. Hi Lisa – I have been to Destin a few times and I do prefer it when it is less crowded (or off season) because it can be quite crowded. Glad you had a good time there and thanks for joining me with the beach photos (and hey – you are Lisa on the beach after all so this is right up your alley)
