Hello Readers, This is the third post for sharing June 2019 street shots.
I took around 400 street shots in June. Compare that to taking about 20 street shots in April, about 10 street shots in May, and only 3 so far for July – and we can see June was prolific.
1) I took three photos of this lady walking in Richmond, Virginia (RVA) – originally wanted to put the three pics together – but it did not work – so here is the one I liked of the three. We have the man entering the frame right, and is that a paper lunch sack in his hand? Timeless. Also, the lady was walking while looking down for the entire block… and that same day I read someone’s post (cannot recall where – ugh) about how WE NEED TO LOOK UP more (it was such a good post). And then some yogis I know remind us that “looking up more” helps the flow of energy from the head and through the body – so let’s be mindful of how much time we spend looking down – 🙂 2) In the previous photo, with the lady looking down, I was going for three shots of the woman walking – but it didn’t work out; however, it DID work with this woman walking in Toronto (at least I think it worked). Loved the lady’s shoes as she passed by my lens – and in the middle shot she gives us a smile. Some people are just cool. Makes up for the ones that are not so cool. And look at the third shot – her gait exuded that cool vibe.
3) This might be a repeat from Toronto -but I did not realize I had a photo of this dog owner (with sign) looking right at me. I like the contrast in this shot – the right vs. the left 4) I was in Toronto two days before the Raptors had their parade for the NBA Championship. I think this hoodie is related to the Raptors – not sure – anyone know? I guess 416 is the main area code for Toronto and… well… hmmm? Let’s throw in a selfie….and I like the large yellow planters?5) This shot is for Pull Up A Seat (here)6) I know this is not technically a photo “from the streets” – but “people shots” fall under street shots for Priorhouse – so adding in this photo from Reagan International Airport. Also, this photo makes me smile – the couple is so in love – ahhhhhh – see his arm stretched around and then her hand securing his arm – as she causally reads – ❤️❤️❤️ this photo is linked to Trent’s Weekly Smile (here).
Next Three are from Toronto
7) Another couple – with a different arm embrace – just a resting hand around her man ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
8) Two Pair9) See the baby bump? I like this photo with the construction all around and the soft pink dress and the whispers of new life coming. And the little sign with the person is in sync with our walkers. 10) Joy! The little girl center was wearing a unicorn headband and I asked her how it felt being a unicorn – it was fun – (also wanted to share this photo with the unicorn-loving Melinda) (Sherkston Shores, 2019)11) Sometimes at red lights we share waves and smiles. Especially on mild-temperature days when a window rolled down is fresh (Richmond, VA)
The remaining nine are going into a slideshow:

Let’s wind this post down with some news from the Niagara Falls newspaper –
Colleges now offering training for Commercial Cannabis Production (I think this should have happened decades ago)
And this ad from the Buffalo News… deleted
Let’s close with this photo of a gas station from the
Native American reservation in New York State.
The last two years I have driven through the reservation and it feels like a time warp… hard to explain. The signs, the homes especially -….
Lastly, you know I am going to ask if you have any top pictures from this post?
The top pick for me is definitely number six. I think everyone in a marriage wants to age together and grow in love…and in my case…I am good friends with my husband too. I love that one. In the slide show…I like the girl in the red hat.
thanks for the feedback and it is such a blessing to be best friends with a partner – such a gift and cheers to that
and thanks for sharing your fav from the slideshow – the hat girl was in Tim Hortons and she walked away and left her purse, coffee, and phone for a long time. we were surprised that she left it all there like that
What do mean you “guess I meant to ask”? Was it ambiguous (just want to know so I can fix it)
And four is up there for me! And thanks for getting one from the slide show – 😉
I gazed at the elderly couple for a while. What a touching image and I love that the luggage and the stripes on his shirt tone so well. They obviously both like purple. Your people images fascinate me, Yvette. xx
well thanks for the really nice comment, S.
and you helped me see more int he image – I missed the purple luggage –
and a few other details – I had a second shot of them and I searched and searched for it – but I deleted it already – I am trying to not collect photos but I might be cleaning up pics too fast these days –
well you have given us some people (like at the fair or some event recently – i recall because it was when i was thinking about doing a jeans post – )
and you also have your hands full with all that nature you have been gifted
Lots of great people-street shots, Yvette. My favourite is the guy and little girl giving you a wave at traffic lights. And that final shot of the gas station is quite something – noveau Edward Hopper elements?!
T.ish – of wow – I can totally see that now – the gas station does have some sort of
– noveau Edward Hopper element –
and I was not sure how to use the photo – or when – and so I am glad I added it here.
I really like the last photo with the rays of lighting. I adore the couple in the airport waiting area. And the photo of the guy with a sign along with his dog – the contrasting messages in that photo are very intriguing.
Thanks so much Shelley – and the one with the man and sign – well I just got another message (maybe) – like the art depicts someone getting punched (knocked out)- and then he is standing there with a sign and not in the best life spot (also knocked out) – hmmm
That’s the ‘fun’ of photography – each person that views it takes away their own perception of it. I could see that too, when I look at it. It would be a great photo to use for a flash fiction prompt to see what everyone comes up with?
Yes Yvette. The area code for phone numbers in Toronto is 416. Actually there are two codes as there are so many people living here that they ran out of numbers.
Well thanks – and I will come to you with any other questions on your cool city –
and did you go to the parade?
it was the day I “almost” visited – whew – glad I did not go that day :
Street photography is something I’d like to get better at. I did some when we were in NYC 3 years ago…used a little camera and only when I thought no one was looking. I need to be braver. For example, the guy in the hoodie with the grocery bag looked like he might get in your face, but I’m guessing he didn’t? My favorite was #9, for all the reasons you described. Loved the little girls in 10 too…though I am always worried about posting kids pictures.
Hi Dawn….
well best wishes as you get better at honing your street shots – and I was just comment sharing with a few bloggers about how I have changed over the years in my approach – and also how it really can be an awkward thing. And I hear you with the kids – I am very careful – and in this case the dad was okay with it – very nice –
—
and regarding the mad in hoodie – I took two of him – and he did notice my camera – and gave soft smile nod as he passed (which I did not get a shot of!)
I liked the collage in 2 and the pair waiving in 11 and The Gas Station. And of course, The Selfie, great fun blowing it up to see you, and the way the couple is framed in one pane of glass, nice.
“Ruffled feathers and endless squawking over a minor difficulty is typical of a crow’s life. I lean back on the counter and realize that could be my line….”
The older couple (with the man in the wheelchair) at the airport is so sweet that it brought tears to my eyes.

If you got one of those yellow planters, you would need a green (bus) thumb! But I love them so. They just make you smile, don’t they?
And looking up? What’s that? Although it’s nice when you find the peeps who are not married to their phone screen.

haha a- you are so right about the huge green thumb

No I did not. There was a time that I used to go to every event over the weekends. Now I tend to do Zumba, grocery shopping, and other activities.
