The theme for this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge (here) relates to five elements: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth
Amy invites us to “interpret metal, wood, water, fire, and earth with your favorite photos to express ‘the only home we’ve ever known’. Feel free to choose one, two… or all five elements.”
My take:

Combining Sunday Challenges with the Five Elements

Do you like the Pineapple material boots? Way too thigh-high for moi.
Don’t these boots look like METAL boots??- They are from a material called “Pinatex” – from pineapples! Cellulose fibers are extracted from pineapple leaves, then added to polylactic acid (PLA is thermoplastic polymer) and a petroleum-based resin – (read more). Piñatex is water resistant, some say it is more sustainable, but it is not biodegradable because the resins used for the coating are petroleum based.
Do you ave a favorite element or element combo?
Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth

How do they do it???

I am not sure – but I guess for a while the VEGAN folks (or those wanting to not use leather) were wearing coats- dresses – bags and shoes – but pinatex is not as sustainable as once thought – the petro resin – so I guess they are trying to find a new resin

Wow, I love this! Awesome way of looking at things.

Metal and Earth- shovel and egg, what a great combination. Sad for the egg, but great nevertheless

Thanks – later I felt something special with that photo – appreciate the comment on it

This is such an interesting theme for this week. Really like the painting shot where it showed us the four elements all within the work of art in the foreground and background. So creative. The last shot – very shiny footwear. Wonder if it is waterproof 😀

Thank you, Mabel – for your visit – ad feedback – I just fixed the post to make it clearer – those boots are made from “pinatex” — a pineapple leaf material (+resin) ad….
Piñatex is water resistant, some say it is more sustainable, but it is not biodegradable (at first it was purported to be biodegradable but it is petro based)

The post was already clear as it is, Y. So thoughtful of you to put more effort into it. That is great info, thank you so much. Piñatex sounds durable but hard to destroy. I guess there are ways to reuse it over time or turn it into something else.

Hmm, if I were much younger I probably choose one of the elements for my favorite one. Now, I think I like them all. I guess we need all of them and each offers its unique property that the other do not possess. I would add “air” too. I feel like I am in an ancient mythical word with all sorts of magic.. In that case, I would choose “air”.

I agree so much with your view: “we need all of them and each offers its unique property that the other do not possess” -and the air is no small matter – life is right there with air quality – eh?

Yes, indeed. Us in particular breath air to live.. Please have a happy Sunday.

Interesting topic Yvette. And those boots – how would you bend your knees? They sure are unique though and likely not difficult to “break in” either.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Linda – good point about not breaking them in – as they would be already soft and ready to go –
But way too high for me – that would have to uncomfortable that high – makes for good art tho and I guess these are on display at a museum

Seems to me like Elton John wore a pair of boots like that back in the day, on an album cover … it sticks out in my mind for some reason.

Excellent! I immediately fell in love with the flower on the green/teal coasters. Structure and colours in amazing combo.

Thanks leya – that small flower fell out of a mixed bouquet I had and so I was going to put it into a shot glass – never did –
However – did get that coaster photo – 😉

Love your interpretation of the photo challenge. Such beautiful photos. I also love the pineapple boots, but I would not wear them. Too thigh high for moi also!

What a great post. I am an abstract artist. But their is not much that I could do with fire creatively but to contain it in a fashionably or use it as a burn etcher. The same goes for water which is more flexible. With water I can add color to it. Water is of course, a safer artistic medium than fire.

Thanks OTTO – they have normal looking boots – bags and jackets – but I think I prefer other materials – nkt sure –
But it does have petro resin and I wonder (just wonder) what this does to the skin or if it emits anything in hot weather
