Two-for-Tuesday Boots, Bikes, and Send Two Sunsets & Night is almost Done Dickinson Poems

Hello Readers – City Sonnet’s color of the day is Wild Rose (here) and Tourmaline’s color this week is Almond (here).

I had these photos sitting in a Two for Tuesday folder –  thought it might make a nice post – and I have some Emily Dickinson Poems two – I mean too – 🙂

THE BOOTS

The first boot photo – with almond color in the counter top – I stumbled upon at Ann’s house (she and her hubs moved to the country and we went to see them one night a few years ago. All night that little lone boot sat on the counter top – I guess it was her granddaughter’s doll’s boot.  I grabbed a photo on the way out.  Reminded me of an item of my stepdaughter’s that I had on display Back in the 1990’s.  I used to have her Polly Pocket locket bracelet in a little bird-bath dish. It stayed right there in the living room (for about s year) and once in a while someone  would ask if I knew it was there. It would wait for her until her next visit.

The second boot was sitting on a table at the pool. I thought, “Wow, another single boot waiting for me to photograph.”

THE BIKES

Both bikes were parked in the same yard, which I saw on that ‘doorscursion’ walk in Charlottesville, VA (last month here)

THE POEMS

I do not have much commentary on today’s Dickinson poems. Both have to do with life and the passing of time. The first one mentions that second sunset – the one that comes when we stay up late.  The second poem reminds me of the freshness and the joy that can sometimes come with a new day (smooth the hair, prepare the smile and leave the fears of last night behind – renew the mind with right thinking and start that fresh day)   — — What do you think the poems offer for takeaways?

Thought for the day: Think on these things – whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable… (this wooden sign sits on my step-daughter’s desk – her colleague gave it to her…)

  1. Almond and Wild Rose sound like the colors a bride would pick for her wedding in the spring. As for doubles in my life today… not so much. Kind of a one-of-a-kind day. Lots of individuality.

  2. Thanks for the shoutout! My Two for Tuesdays are all about music, by the way. It’s the oldest regular feature on my blog, starting back in July 2012, when just about no one was reading it (yet).

  5. I’m really enjoy Emily’s poems. I felt that the first one was about her writing (about sunsets/stars) and the one produced by Day at the end of the evening. The real sunset is “ampler”, but her writing ( or maybe someone’s painting?) are easier to carry around.

    I enjoy photos of lone shoes. 🙂

  6. Love the way the boots and bikes match in colour. Well spotted, Yvette. The two poems are really lovely and I enjoyed reading them. The inspiration verse comes from the Bible, if I’m not mistaken. I had lunch with my special girlfriend today. Just the two of us for Tuesday. 😃

    1. Ahhhh – nice lunch pair. That is so nice – and I am enjoying exploring more of Emily’s poems this month – learning a little bit not researching too much (don’t have too much time to spend on it)
      and yes – that verse is a bible verse – and someone gave my stepdaughter the sign after she had a miscarriage – and that helped – she now has a beautiful little girl (Almost one year old)

  7. I like the color swatches – they are soothing and the top almond swatch matches the photo directly beneath it – just wow how you did that! The little boot … at first I thought it was a 3D plastic boot. The plaque with the sayings – they are good thoughts to live by.

    1. Hi linda – I lucked out with the almond swatch matching so well . I made both of those
      swatches real quick like because I could not find any made for the colors today – and I was wondering how light and how dark is almond – or wild rose …. and so I was going with the stones in that photo as lining up with the lighter side of almond – but woo hoo that it syncs even more.
      And this post was fun because I was able to use up some old photos – have dust collecting on some (kidding)

      1. Well they were a perfect match. I liked the bike as well. Fellow Blogger Shelley (Quaint Revival – where I met Ally) lives in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and it is a quaint town. They have bikes all over town and they are painted vibrant colors and their handlebar baskets are filled with flowers in Summer. I just looked on her site for the post … https://www.quaintrevival.com/chippewa-falls-wi-bicycles-bicycles-bicycles/

        Now that would be something to see. I have some evergreen pictures stashed away too – thinking I’ll use them for a post when I run out of current photos.

      1. Yes, I saw that sign and liked it too Yvette. I happened to mention to Shelley about the hair salon I go to, that one of the stylists is very creative. He buys pieces of slate, then paints them a solid color, then adds sayings and some artwork and their whole shop (husband and wife own the salon) is full of these slates and other creative items he’s done. I said out front he has painted a bike turquoise and filled the baskets with flowers every Summer. He writes a daily inspirational message on a blackboard next to the bike. I thought it was unique until Shelley sent me the link to her post about all the bikes. Great creative idea.

  12. Your boots remind me of all the little boots I’ve had parked at my front door over the years. My favorites were worn on a boy named Noah who had to wear shorts with his, no socks and such shocking blond hair. He. was. adorable! It countered the smelly feet lolol
