Monday Morning Blooms: Lemony-Yellow (& Dickinson’s Bobolink Poem)

Happy Monday Readers,

City Sonnet’s color today is Lemon (here) and so here are lemony-yellow blooms.

I like the yellow to white – but also take a look at all the buds in this photo. Like a crown around the bloom – whispers of a lot more beauty to come.

Here is the Emily Dickinson poem for this post: The Way to Know the Bobolink (popular songbird in the 1800s in Massachusetts and Dickinson calls the Bobolink the “bird of birds”):

    1. Ha – very funny – I do not “love” her poetry –
But I like a lot of it and actually wanted to get to know a few more of her poems –
      Thanks for dropping Sir Spaniard

  1. Yellow is such a bright and cheery color and your flowers are beautiful to view on this rainy (again) morning! Love the poem and the cartoon. Have a beautiful week, dear friend! 😀

  2. Florist Gump is funny! I didn’t know about the bobolink, but now that I do I understand ED’s poem. Yellow flower make me wistful, but content. I know not why.

  3. Great post for a bit of Monday sunshine. It’s storming here, with lots of rain showers. Love the yellow roses, but I’m glad to see the humble dandelion also has a spot. 🙂 Thanks for the giggle at the end. 😀 xx

  4. The yellow blooms are beautiful – we are blessed with daffodils and dandelions right now but I must admit that dandelions are cheery looking for our still blah landscape. Love the Florist Gump cartoon!

    1. Good point about how dandelions can add some color and beauty – even if they tear up the lawns – ya- and they also offer some nice teas with their roots – 😉

      1. They mowed at the Park this morning and the grass cutters were half done when I arrived. They sheared off all the dandelions – give them a day or two and there will be a fresh crop. I never tried dandelions as salad greens or tea or wine, but had a high school classmate whose parents made dandelion wine every Spring.

  5. Oh those are lovely!
One of our clients brought in lemon popcorn drizzled with white chocolate. Doesn’t that sound bizarre? Oh my gosh, it was delicious! I had to stop after the second handful! I was afraid I’d never stop! Haha!
