Happy Monday Readers,
City Sonnet’s color today is Lemon (here) and so here are lemony-yellow blooms.

Here is the Emily Dickinson poem for this post: The Way to Know the Bobolink (popular songbird in the 1800s in Massachusetts and Dickinson calls the Bobolink the “bird of birds”):

You got me out of my boredom, nice post by the way I think Emily is way too distracted with those flowers.

Ha – very funny – I do not “love” her poetry –
But I like a lot of it and actually wanted to get to know a few more of her poems –
Thanks for dropping Sir Spaniard

Can you repeat it again? The word ¨Sir¨, and if this time is in capital letters I would feel better.

Florist Gump is funny! I didn’t know about the bobolink, but now that I do I understand ED’s poem. Yellow flower make me wistful, but content. I know not why.

In a way your comment reminded me of Emily Dickinson – the “know not why” and the wistful/content—

Great post for a bit of Monday sunshine. It’s storming here, with lots of rain showers. Love the yellow roses, but I’m glad to see the humble dandelion also has a spot. 🙂 Thanks for the giggle at the end. 😀 xx

The yellow blooms are beautiful – we are blessed with daffodils and dandelions right now but I must admit that dandelions are cheery looking for our still blah landscape. Love the Florist Gump cartoon!

Good point about how dandelions can add some color and beauty – even if they tear up the lawns – ya- and they also offer some nice teas with their roots – 😉

They mowed at the Park this morning and the grass cutters were half done when I arrived. They sheared off all the dandelions – give them a day or two and there will be a fresh crop. I never tried dandelions as salad greens or tea or wine, but had a high school classmate whose parents made dandelion wine every Spring.

Dandelion wine? I am so curious about that.
All I know is that some dandelion parts are great for liver support –

I didn’t know about the liver support. I know people use them for salad greens too. I just looked and there were several recipes out there for dandelion wine and this one had the rating with the most stars. I didn’t realize it was that much work and so little yield. https://practicalselfreliance.com/dandelion-wine-recipe/

Oh those are lovely!
One of our clients brought in lemon popcorn drizzled with white chocolate. Doesn’t that sound bizarre? Oh my gosh, it was delicious! I had to stop after the second handful! I was afraid I’d never stop! Haha!
