    1. thanks Deb – my first thought with this prompt was actually a “butterflied filet – charred medium RARE” from Luke’s steakhouse in Colorado – such good steak !

  1. Delicious food, Y. I got to admit. I really do envy fast food in the States – they come with those crinkle cut chips! I wonder if most stores make their own. We don’t get anything like that here in Australia but the usual fries.

    1. hi Mabel – well this was actually not fast food – still quick – but this was a feature burger at a decent eatery called “the tabbaco company” – it was pretty good – extra points for loads of toppings and quality meat – and those fries were sweet potato crinkle cut – very good – but speaking of fast food – some people say that the fast food place called “chick-fil-A” has the best Krinkle cut (waffle fries) around – hm- not sure !

      1. Quality meat always makes a good patty. A good, dense beef patty always hits the spot for me. I have always wanted to try chick-fil-A. The photos of its food always looks so good πŸ˜€

      2. hi M- I think you and I would eat very well together if we ever sat down for a lunch (and book talk) – ha!
and quick scoop on chin-til-A – I cannot eat there because they have MSG in their chicken – but my one son likes it.
the thing about chin-til-a is they do a lot of marketing and especially in the 90s – like at school we had goody bags with free chikfila meals and that was nice.
they are a Christian based company, which they interpret as not working on Sunday’s – along with hobby lobby – and don’t want to even get started on the misconception about how some Christians view Sunday and work.
so if church is on Sunday – then it is ok for the pastors and church staff (and volunteers) to work – but businesses are shut down? further – the whole idea of a sabbath was Old Testament and it was for Jews “back then” – and so while we do need to take a day off – break from work and rest – this whole “Sunday off as Christians” thing is to not fully understand the New Testament – and it seems modern Christians continue to do this – they continue to want rules and the whole reason Jesus responded with two commandments (love God and love your neighbor) is because folks under the heavy laws became cold, proud, legalistic, and far from love! so far – and so Christians pick and choose from these old laws – and apply them as they see fit – ((esp with tithing – which they then call a tenth when the original model was “food tithes” and sometimes added up to more than 30%– but modern churches have s better business model with folks giving 10%))
now some of the old laws have much value for wisdom and structure and health – like a day “off” for rest – but to be literal – these businesses need to change it to Saturday – but even then this is amiss a because modern Jews do not even follow their old history laws.
church on Sunday emerged from the farm schedule (I think) and so the closing of a store on Sunday for religious reasons might be admirable -but is it Biblical? if so – let’s shut down every church because the employees and volunteers are working pretty hard in most churches – !
um – sorry to ramble –
and back to the food – I do think you would like their food – the sandwiches are huge and the waffle fries usually very fresh!

      3. That is an interesting bit of history about chik-fil-A. Sounds like they made delicious school lunches back in the day. Never knew they closed on Sundays. There will be those around us who will stick with the old laws because that is what they feel comfortable with…each to their own.

I would love to have lunch with you if we do meet, Y. We could order a couple of beefy burgers and a huge stack of waffle fries. I’m not a big eater so you’d probably get some of my share πŸ˜€

      4. ha! I am not usually huge eater either -so both of us can have a takeout box to save some for later – and I am the kind of person who LOVES leftovers – not sure if you do – and I have met some people who do not really like leftovers – but some food is better the next day – not all things of course – anyhow – waffle fries it is! πŸ˜ƒ

and I really like how you said some follow those laws- rules because of a comfort thing and to each their own – I agree… and I do try to not “judge”
oh and there are actually jokes about people going to chikfila and forgetting they are closed – comedians even have a few jokes as well – and we were at a small group last spring and an ice beaker was to share your favorite eatery – this lady eagey exclaimed chikfila ! she lovesssssss it – and one last story – when my kids were all into sports and we had hours on the field – we were so grateful when there was chicfila fundraising – under a tent there would be huge insulated bags with chikfila sandwiches for couple of dollars – fills up hungry athletes – πŸ‘πŸΌ

    1. hi! thanks for your comment – and I have heard that ground beef is the one we want to not eat rare because it has been mixed and handled – but I have heard many folks challenge that – but I guess with a good filet – it is safe – and it does melt in your mouth (and sorry to all my vegan pals) – πŸ˜‰

    1. hi P! well I might have missed the main point of ben’s challenge – they wanted family heirloom and the other special rare – but this was the thought I had with rare – ha! and side note – I only had maybe three bites of this – and three bites of salmon – so I like rare filet (not rare hamburger) but not too much – and I took a capsule of betaine HCL w pepsin to help me digest ! hah!
