Couch on a Bus! (Cee’s oddball photo challenge)

couch on a bus 1 - priorhouse 2014I saw a red line on the map – which meant clogged traffic on I-64

An alternative drive home showed me something I’ve never seen before….

A couch on a bus! – being held down with bungee cords-

It was sitting up there – on a make-shift wooden floor.

I took photos with my arm reaching out of the door –

And after a few photos – I HAD to take two more

Because the students waved –and smiled as they soared –

Sitting in the air – in a couch on a bus!!

And hey – why all the fuss?

I mean – that’s what youth groups do

Because teens are just…. um, –  so cool –

And this reminded me of an old youth group song

With words about teens being strong –

It’s by Good Charlotte and it’s called “Hold On

Here it is from youtube – so maybe you can listen along….

“Hold On”

by Good Charlotte – released 12/2003

This world, this world is cold

But you don’t, you don’t have to go

You’re feeling sad, you’re feeling lonely

And no one seems to care

Your mother’s gone and your father hits you

This pain you cannot bear

But we all bleed the same way as you do

And we all have the same things to go through

Hold on, if you feel like letting go

Hold on, it gets better than you know

Your days, you say they’re way too long

And your nights, you can’t sleep at all

Hold on

And you’re not sure what you’re waiting for

But you don’t want to know more

You’re not sure what you’re looking for

But you don’t want to know more

But we all bleed the same way as you do

And we all have the same things to go through

Hold on, if you feel like letting go

Hold on, it gets better than you know

Don’t stop looking, you’re one step closer

Don’t stop searching, it’s not over

Hold on

What are you looking for?

What are you waiting for?

Do you know what you’re doing to me?

Go ahead

What are you waiting for?

Hold on, if you feel like letting go

Hold on, it gets better than you know

Don’t stop looking, you’re one step closer

Don’t stop searching, it’s not over

Hold on, if you feel like letting go

Hold on, it gets better than you know

Hold on

  1. That’s really a funny/odd looking bus! To me, that is! But the “roof-top” is funny/georgeous! XD

  2. Haha! What a sight to see. I enjoyed this post and the song too. Keep wondering how they would have gotten that couch up there, and how they convinced the bus driver to let them do this!

      1. and K – I kinda like the ring of what you said “meant to detour” – hmmmm sounds like a book title – ha!

  4. That is just amazing. Obviously they went the back roads to avoid traffic cops. What are they like in your neck of the woods? Over here they would have the book thrown at them. But it is such a youth defying law and order thing, good on them. Those wires look awful close to their heads too. Was the bus actually moving????

    1. thanks for your detailed comment my friend – and no – the bus was not moving – and I thought about adding in the photo of the old church that it was near – it had all this dark and heavy brick – I mean blood red. But I left out the photos of the church because I was not totally sure the bus was there – even though it says a church on the side of the bus – and well, I also do not want to clog the feel of the post with too many other things added –

and well, I doubt they let kids sit on it while the bus is moving – I mean – it just seems like there would be liabilities with that – and I think they need to paint the bus with some art!

oh – and the wires are WA in back of them – it was just my angle from the truck window that makes it seem right on top of their heads!
      🙂

      1. Looking at it again Y and reading your reply I wonder if it even has a road licence, it is a great old bus, but maybe just for show. That church sounds as though it is calling out for a post of it’s own… 🙂

    1. well it did have a license plate – but I bet nobody is up there while moving. If it still starts that is…. looks very old and clunky!
